Any Cards Fans, need an Answer to a Q.

During the local broadcasts, they've showed glimpses of the New Busch Stadium under construction. I've got to say they're working pretty fast and it's turning out nice so far. When did they start the project exactly is what I want to know.

Really? Holy crap it was that recently? I would assume they had started in 03 sometime.

It's a real shame they are going to replace Busch. I grew up going to Busch, I was at the playoff game when Ozzi hit the Lefthanded HR, I was at the last seat cushion day when Tommy Herr hit a walkoff Grandslam. It is the only cookie cutter that looks good. Granted it took several renovations to make into the great baseball only stadium it is now, but that stadium does not need replacing. My favorite part of Busch is that it looks like a bottle cap glowing in the STL night. The arches on the top, man it is a real shame they have to take Busch down like this.

I felt the very same way about The Murph/The Q, but trust me, you'll get over it really fast once you step into the new park. I have fond memories of Thursday afternoons with my Dad watching the likes of Winfield, Jones, and yes even Ozzie Smith. When I got older I was able to see the career of the greatest Padre unfold before my very eyes. In 1984 I got to see playoff glory as you did when Garvey hit his game winning shot in the bottom of the 9th in game 4 , then was able to see the Pads close out the Cubs in game 5 for the team's first trip to the Worls Series. The memories we have of the ballparks we grew up in will always be with us, but there will be new milestones and memories over the next 30 years in the new playgrounds.

I know that I won't hate the new ballpark, but I just think that building a new one in STL was unnecessary. I'm sure the Pads won't mind seeing it go considering before this weekend they hadn't had any success there for the last 5 or 6 years. I understand the sentimental attachment to the Q but that thing was way too huge for baseball and not the nicest stadium. I got to go to many of the stadiums that have gone down in the last few years and that certainly was not on my list of stadiums that I wish was still around.

Hell yeah the Padres won't miss... playing on it that is. That place is the house of horrors for them. Anywho, I've rarely got to see Busch Stadium myself... the Padres seem to always play there whenever I'm too busy to watch it on TV.

Busch II should be nice, I like it's progress.
