Favorite Stadiums No Longer Used For Baseball

Another stadium is in its last year, Busch will make way for Busch II next year in STL. I thought it would be cool to read peoples stories about stadiums they miss and wish were still around. I will miss Busch and its bottlecap shape glowing in the STL night.

We should also talk about stadium that should just be taken out of thier misery.

My favorites that are no longer around are Tiger stadium and County stadium. As far as the rest that I've been to, Candlestick, the Q, Old Comiskey, I can't say that I wish I could go back to those.

The Astrodome. It was a dump by today's standards, but I have fond memories... took in my first big league game there (and several more).

I've been to a few famous football and baseball stadiums, and Tiger Stadium is still my all-time favorite.

I feel exactly the same way about the Vet. From the crowds to the aura that the stadium had.

You Said It StripMallP, The Vet definately had something about it. I was born and raised in Philly and saw my first professional baseball game at the vet. Phillies-Expos in 1992 (or whenever the first year they got the unis the currently wear now was) I loved that place, but so many hated it and I guess it did become a dump after a few years. I remember we all so wanted to have the public league football championship there. Public League baseball had their challenge with other area teams there, I figured, why not football until I took a tour and felt the turf at field level. Disgusting. But I still miss the ol' place.

Riverfront Staduim.....it was a dump but it was the place where I went to my first ever baseball game. And we would always sit in the nosebleed section {the red seats} and when I was younger I use to always be scared going up there.

My heart is with Riverfront since I saw so many baseball and football games there. But, I enjoyed Tiger Stadium and Old Comiskey a lot. I even saw a game at the Jack Murphy before they added seats and thought that place was pretty cool. I sat in the equivalent of the green seats at Riverfront there and felt much closer to the field. Plus I saw one of the funniest things ever at that game between the Cubs and Pads. Some little 5-year-old kid in the upperdeck box seats was jumping up and down not paying attention to the game. Lo and behold a foul ball comes his way. Hit him right on top of the head. He kind of stumbled and just started rubbing his head. Kept looking around like, "WTF just happened?" I guess you had to be there, but I thought that was funny as hell.

The former Jack Murphy Stadium. I have no idea what company has there name on it right now.

I've never been there but still hope to one day. Maybe for a Chargers game, if they still play there later this year.

Tiger stadium at the corner of Michigan and Trumball. The short porch with the over hang in right and the mamouth 440' center field with the flagpole in play. Back in the early 90's on turn back the clock days, you could get a double header in for $4 and the stadium shook when Cecil Fielder would come to the plate and everyone in center field would stomp their feet....
