    Re: Best Rivalry in baseball?

Yeah '85 was the best year of my baseball fandom (is that a word?). Cards were predicted last place. Vince Coleman comes up in May and steals over 100 bases, Tommy Herr the last man to get 100 RBI's with less than 10 HR's (he had 9 and batted 3rd), John Tudor threw 10 shutouts (you could put a dime on the plate and that guy could throw it over it). The Cardinals hit 68 Hr's as a team that year and won 100 games, AMAZING!

The Mets had a great team led by an 18 yo Gooden, Gary Carter & that
p rick Kieth Hernandez (a former Cardinal & the greatest 1B ever).

I think both the Cards and Mets won 100 games.

    What a year!

I think Ozzie Guillen took a page from Whitey Herzog when he & Kenny Williams built this year's White Sox. They've got more power than the Cards had that year, but the team has a similar feel to the '85 Cards.

Giants/Dodgers hasn't had that much heat at SBC Park as it used to. Now, Dodger Stadium is where it's at when the Giants play there. I mean they are ROWDY! Back at Candlestick, it used to be the other way around.

They are still, hands down, the second biggest rival in baseball today.

As someone who's relatively unbiased, I'll say Giants-Dodgers.
