Re: The Official 2006 Pittsburgh Pirates Thread

I'm pretty much speechless as well. I really never thought we'd get swept by KC, let alone completely outplayed (and that says a lot when both teams didn't exactly play great).

I'm near the end of my rope. Every year I lose interest in the Pirates earlier and earlier in the season. Only thing that I'm interested in now is seeing who's traded and who we get back.

To be honest, I'm kind of hoping they tank and lose 120 games. Maybe that'll be enough to run McClatchy/Nutting out of town. They can take Littlefield and Tracy with them.

At least if they cleaned house like that (from the owner on down), you could say that they have a plan. But right now, nobody in that organization seems to have a clue about baseball. There's no direction and therefore no hope.

This is not the year for this to happen. With the increased season ticket base and increased attendance due to the ASG, they really needed to show signs of improvement to keep those fans coming back. Unfortunately, they've gone backwards. I can't wait to see what attendance is like next season...

I read that article yesterday. I know the Nuttings don't have to speak to the media as McClatchy is the talking head of the Pirates, but why not answer a few questions? Afterall, who would own a professional sports team and believe they could always stay in the dark?

In any case, swept by LA and now on an 11 game losing streak with the White Sox and Tigers coming to town. It could get even uglier - probably will.

It doesn't look like these guys have any interest in playing either. They're just going through the motions right now. Too many mental mistakes and sloppy fundamentals.

            So that's 12 straight losses.....Most since 1939.

I saw this on another board, but thought it was funny. The guy said he's hoping Detroit sweeps us this weekend. Leyland wins game 1, gets tossed in game 2 and Lamont takes over and gets the win then both Leyland and Lamont get tossed in game 3, Lloyd takes over and gets the win.

              13 and counting....

That is funny about Leyland, Lamont, and Lloyd.

Who knew this would be a historic season for the Buccos???

Well, Comcast finally shut off my baseball Extra-Innings package (I had the Hockey package for the Pens, and baseball was on the same channels). So no more watching Pirate games for me....

That sucks. Especially considering Gorzelanny goes tonight and IMO it's always fun to watch a guy like him pitch. I missed his last start on Saturday as I was out that night. I'm looking forward to see what he's got tonight.

Yeah, now that some of the young guys are getting called up and getting PT, I would like to watch to see a glimpse of the future.

Maybe I'll get it for the mid-season price to watch the rest of the season.

So jack wilson is on the trading block? that doesnt make much sense to me, they just signed him to a long term deal. Though they could move freddy to SS and bautista;s natural position is 3B. i herad mike gonzo is on the block too. any one know of anyone else?

I would imagine that anyone except Bay, Paulino, Duke, and Bautista are on the block (or at least they would listen to offers).

I think that Casey, C. Wilson, and R. Hernandez are moved. And there could be more (I feel like I'm forgetting somebody...)
