    The 2007 Baltimore Orioles

3rd year in a row that I've started this thread, nice.

I know that there's a few O's fans on the board, so this should be a nice thread this season. I'm pretty excited to be honest with you, I think this is the year we finally get over .500 and then some. I can't wait to see how Markakis does in his second season, how Loewen and Penn develop, if Bedard can repeat his Cy Young calibur 2nd half, and if D-Cab can finally get it together. Bedard and Markakis alone will keep me watching all year, not to mention we still have the best shortstop in the league. I'll go with 87-75 this year, not enough to get into the postseason, but very solid.

Hey man, good post. I am a loyal O's fan...and I must admit, I am more excited for this season than I have been in a long time. I honestly think this is the deepest team we have put on the field since the brief stint of winning teams we fielded in the mid-90's.

If D-Cab can step up, I think this team could be very good this year and suprise some people. The revamped bullpen should help prevent lots of losses and help our rotation look better. The siging of Aubrey Huff and Jay Payton add alot of depth, and I think Huff can be a very nice complement to Tejada in the middle of the order. People seem to forget the numbers he posted in 2005, even 2004. He has proven to be a very capable 30-100 guy, and I would not be suprised to see him return to that form this season. He may turn out to be quite a bargain.

With the stockpile of young arms we have, and the bench depth we have added, I think this is one of the deepest Orioles teams in awhile. I'm very excited, and while they will miss the playoffs, they will at least win some games and be fun to watch.

I just wish the Yard could get back to they way it used to be. I miss the days when the stadium was more than half full.

Got my tickets to the home opener, see you at Pickles!

I'm really excited this year. I'm hoping Huff has a big year and our starting pitchers show off what we were hoping for.

After reading this, I can't wait.

Well, Jamie Walker took a Nick Markakis liner to the back of the head during BP today. Apparently he'll be alright, but that can't be good mentally.

Steve "Trash"el got worked again today... going to be fun watching him pitch every fifth day. Have plenty of beer ready.

Hopefully Penn or Olson can pick up his slack when they finally can him in a couple months.

"Not wonderment," he said when asked if he was surprising even himself with his hot hand in Virginia's 108-87 victory against Gonzaga on Wednesday night, when he scored a career-best 37 points. "I was just wondering why they didn't play more `D.

If alot of things come together I could see the O's maybe challenging for a wild card spot. That's a big IF though. I would've been very excited about this season if we played in any division other then the AL EAST or the AL Central but I just don't see this team doing better then the Yanks & Sox (Jays are pretty good as well). Also, it would've been nice if the new O's network would broadcast in HD.

My prediction - 81-81, 3rd in the division.

The future for once actually looks pretty good though mainly because the O's are finally drafting well. Rowell is going to be a stud one day.

                          2006 seasons:

                          Millar .272/.374/.437 (.811 OPS)

                          Payton .296/.325/.418 (.743 OPS)

                          Huff .267/.344/.469 (.813 OPS)

Huff and Millar are pretty much the same player. Millar is better defensively though.
But if you're one of those people who believe that OBP is more
important then SLG (I do...to some extent), then Millar would easily be the better player. Payton is worse then both.

Bottom Line: All of these guys should be bench players.

Well, not that great of a performance by Bedard, but I still think he's good for 14-17 wins this year. He'll bounce back. I was impressed with our offense. I see us scoring a bunch of runs this year.
