Well it was nice of Zaun to illustrate exactly why it is he doesn't play, what a lazy passed ball that caused the tying run and his game calling with Frasor sucked. Of his first 14 pitches 13 were fastballs and eventially that always is gonna bite you like it did today. Still a good series, 3-1 in their park, but with the way Litsch pitched today he deserved the win.

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
I'm gonna ask this here since the vast majority of us in this thread has seen his entire career but is Roy Halladay on the path to a Hall of Fame career?
I mean the guy just had his 39th career complete game in an era where most starters can't get past 7 innings. He's got a great K/BB rate, a pretty good ERA, WHIP and he has the respect of everyone in baseball.
Sure his wins total isn't so great but the guy's probably got 10-15 would be wins in his career that has been blown by the 'pen. He's just so efficient and such a great pitcher that sometimes I think fans take him for granted.
I dunno, I could just be looking through homer glasses but I really think he has HOF stuff.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
I don't see how he couldn't be, pretty much every hitter refers to him as one of the greatest pitchers of this generation. If he maintains this pace the only thing missing from the other great pitchers of all time will be the wins (although he is pretty good there, just not as good as he could be.)Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
I think it's safe to say the Jays have today's game in the bag. Nice to see the Jays beating on the big bad BoSox. Let's hope they can continue to beat the teams ahead of them in the standings. It might not mean too much this year but it would be something to build upon for next season.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Wow, its always nice to really pummel the Sox, especially with Beckett on the hill. As much as I believe the Jays are just too far out, there is something to be said for the fact that they for the next month play only teams above them. They really do control their own destiny.Comment

HOW BOUT THOSE BLUE JAYS!
Man, if only JP wasn't stubborn and fired Gibbons a little earlier who knows how much closer this team would be now. As it stands now it's going to take a Rockies like run just to make the playoffs. If they play well during this stretch this team will actually play some semi-meaningful baseball in September for the first time since Tim Johnson was managing.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
At least I get excited to watch them play every day now. In years past at this time is was more like we watched hoping we might somehow find a way to squeeze out a win, whereas now I watch almost expecting us to win but even if they lose it should be close. AJ was again incredible, Lind with another big HR, and a major assist to Johnny Damon! And I know we had to love Giambi and A-rod combining for 7 Ks!Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
So the Jays acquired Jose Bautista for PTBNL, not really sure what purpose this serves. I think this pretty much means Rolen won't be back until Sept 1 if at all. However, for some comic relief in this whole situation he is now our HR leader at 12.
Also, sad stat for the day: the Jays are 20 games over .500 when we hit a home run at 43-23. Makes you wonder what could have been if not for our Denbo-ized lineup wide power outage.Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
That IS sad.
Also pretty interesting stat there concerning HRs. I think Adam Lind is the real deal and hopefully Aaron Hill will recover fully from his concussion to play with the team next year. I actually think this team could have some balance up and down the lineup next year.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Hah, Jays definitely have this game in the bag. It's nice to see them actually beat up on a sucky pitcher for once.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
Finally, time for a real catcher in Barajas to step behind the plate full time next season. Zaun was little more than a career minor leaguer that the Jays happened to need at the time to replace Greg Myers. He's only played 100+ games once in the 9 years he played before joining the Jays. Only a team like us could've given this guy a starting job. Sigh.Comment
