I have noticed. I don't agree with you on it per se, but I definitely see why some people don't like him as much. I am still excited for this year to see how some of our young guys develop. Gomez has been exciting to watch so far. He really needs to take some more pitches though.

If Gardy would get over his infatuation for crappy veterans and ****ty bench players who "hustle" I probably wouldn't have any problem with him.

        Let's see....

        Baker, 9-9 last year -- 4.26 ERA
        Livan Hernandez, 11-11 -- 4.93 ERA
        Boof, 8-12, 5.10 ERA
        Slowey, 4-1, 4.73 EWA
        Blackburn, 0-2, 7.71

        Yeah, great starters
I suppose you could throw Liriano in the mix... a guy who hasn't pitched in 2 years and is coming back from major surgery.

The Twins will NOT outscore many teams, as they typically don't, so they have to count on their pitching to absolutely shut people down. Unfortunately they don't even have a guy in their rotation who had more than 11 wins last year. Sure, they have some potentially decent young pitching, but if you think you're going to plenty of solid starts from them I'd guess again.

This is a 75 win team............. maybe. They lack the starting pitching and run production to fight off many teams.

I thought you were basing it off of what you have seen so far. There is no way that you or anybody can make an opinion on Slowey or Blackburn yet and I would say that Baker has shown signs that he will be a good 2 or 3 starter. Boof is facing a make or break season since he hasn't proven he can be a dependable starter yet.

I think that is a weakness of his as well. Hopefully this year it will be a bit different as we do have a younger team. I wonder how much input he has in personnel moves in the offseason though.

I'm going to guess he has minimal input (at least now with Smith), otherwise there's no way in hell both Tyner and Ford get sent packing.

I think that he lost all desire to have Ford after the Prince Fielder debacle last year and the organization realized Tyner was no more than a 5th outfielder and was easily replaceable. I must admit I liked Tyner, even though he didn't do much for us. He did an okay job of getting on base though.

I guess the first week of the season is likely a decent indication as to how it will go. We have been up and down and our young players have looked good and bad. Our bullpen has been pretty good and our starting pitching has been solid. One game we will score 1 run and the next we will be able to put a crooked number up in a few innings. It will be maddening but hopefully we are taking our lumps now and building for the future. I kind of feel bad for Boof though. He has really given us to winnable ball games and has gotten 2 freaking runs in support for it.

I can't believe the Twins ever wasted a roster spot with Lew Ford.

What a choke job tonight from the local-nine. Our pitching has been the opposite of what it was supposed to be. Our starters have been fine and our bullpen has struggled. This is the exact type of game that we should be used to as this team has been nothing but up and down. If I see Carlos Gomez miss another bunt I might rip my eyes out.

Without the likes of Hunter, Santana gone and Liranino not being the same again the Twins have suprised me by getting 1st so far in the AL Central.

Livan Hernandez acing the pitching staff with six wins.

Well I can't believe what happened last night with Young diving (which didn't bother me), but his lackadaisical attitude afterward really was disappointing to see. His lack of offensive production has been surprising. It is still way too early to say he won't develop power, but it would be nice to see something out of him. I thought his weekend at Colorado a few weeks ago was going to lead to more power, but he went into a slump right after. What are everyone's thoughts after a little over a quarter of the season?

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't been able to watch a game since Sunday because I finally got my own place and don't have cable yet. I will keep my eye out for him. I am assuming you played with him at ND?

We're doing better than I expected, but I'm kinda disappointed after getting swept by the ChiSox last week. I hope we stick with Casilla at 2nd for awhile.

I'm really liking the streak the Twins are one right now. Too bad we couldn't sweep the Tigers. Time to take two of three from the Indians.
