I need to stop doing this as everytime I praise a pitcher/batter in the very next game he gets creamed.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

So now what guys? We're 4 GB with nearly a month left to play. I want to believe in these guys but I'm also trying to brace myself for a letdown because I'm not sure we can surpass both the Giants and Rockies.

There is still hope. Last nights game was a heart breaker but they're not gonna win every single game from here on out. They just need to concentrate on trying to win every series from here on out. Lets start with tonight!!!

Yeah, and now the Marlins are tied with them again, and they're still chasing SF & Colorado. Maybe we can get a Reds sweep this weekend and hope for a loss or two from the guys in front of us. It's going to be tough.

Medlen needs to learn how to pitch. The guy has gotten lit up two nights in a row and it has cost us 2 wins.

I don't blame it fully on Medlen. Bobby got tossed b/c of an insane strikezone both tonight and partly last nite...Medlen has always been a starter and he's been used 3 nites in a row to which I don't believe his arm is quite ready for yet.

Done deal. 2010 should be better, but I don't think we can expect to have a full bill of health for our pitching staff AGAIN.

Swept by the Reds of all teams. That about sums up how dissapointing this season has been.

I know.. I can't believe the Reds were the ones to deliver the big KO on this season. Though all in all I can't say I'm too disappointed with the way this season has turned out. We actually have a pretty good team right now. It's was just put together a little too late. If only we had started the season with Laroche, Church, and Mclouth.

I feel great about next year though. Hopefully we can work something out with Hudson and/or find a decent right handed bat.

Good observation. Wren made such an effort to shore up the rotation that he forgot about the offense until mid-season. Hopefully, Wren will treat Heyward like Hanson this year and wait until late May/early June to call him pending his performance @ 3A...I'd like to see Freeman as well but I don't think he's quite as ready and probably is geared for a 2010 Sept. callup.

Given all of that, I definately pray that Wren will trade or do something for a RH power bat in the winter meetings. The middle of our lineup otherwise will have 3 straight LHs (Chipper, McCann, LaRoche) Escobar (provided he isn't included in a package to receive that power bat) then another lefty in Heyward.

As for Chipper, instead of going hunting during the winter he needs to go into either hibernation or a Roger Clemens-esque conditioning program to shore up the "fatigue" issue.

I don't know, it's just not fair. This year, we honestly should have been in the wild card lead at LEAST. How many times did Jurrjens get screwed out of a win due to lack of run support? How many times did the lineup shuffle due to random BS? How many times did Bobby refuse to make the right decisions with the lineup? How many poor bullpen switches did we make?

I mean, I don't know. It all just seems like a wasted opportunity. This team gets in the playoffs, and our rotation would have carried us to the World Series guaranteed. Jurrjens/Hanson/Lowe/Hudson/Vazquez/Kawakami with Moylan, Acosta, Gonzo, and Soriano there too? Two or three of those starters could have regularly come out of the bullpen for us. We would have owned it.

When is Gonzo's contract up? Can't wait to get rid him.

The Braves could rattle off 10 straight wins and gett back into it.. But that hasnt happened since when..Back when they had all those power hitters? Wishful thinking.

It was only a matter of time before the Braves dropped 5 in a row again.. They did it a few times this seasons ( couple of times right after a 5 game winning streak ) and so it really isnt surprising. I had a bad feeling after those blowups against the Marlins.
