Obviously, as seen on the scout forum, some people don't care too much about walks.

The top five teams in runs scored were all in the top nine in OBP. The top three teams in runs scored were the top three teams in OBP. BA correlates well also, but to say that BA "is a much better indicator" is wrong.

        Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves

In addition, eight of the bottom ten teams in runs scored were in the bottom ten in OBP. All ten teams were in the bottom half of runs scored.

Philly, Tampa,, and Florida were all in the bottom ten in batting average yet they were all in the upper half of all teams in runs scored.

So how exactly is BA a better indicator?

Meh...I'm not sure I care for the Anderson signing. He can still hit, but he is SLOW and not much with the glove anymore. I wish this team would commit to some speed/youth just once.

If you haven't noticed Frank Wren isn't that good of a GM; the only good move I've seen is the trade for JJ getting him from Detriot...everything else was horrible and hasn't worked out

You don't think signing Lowe was a good move?

Naw, I thought he be a perfect fit but I don't like the terms of the deal at all and I think it'll backfire in the end. Too much money & a too many years. Wren bid like 20-25mil over the Mets and gave him an extra year...Furcal blows over, reports saying he was coming then not; Griffrey blows over, reports saying he was coming then not (some of that I blame on the media but regardless)

I don't understand how anyone is blaming Wren for the Furcal deal. When an agent asks for a faxed contract TO SIGN that's as good as done. That has nothing to do with Wren.

He was fired when he worked with Baltimore a few years back; with Furcal & Griffey, not sure if it's an issue w/the reporting from the AJC but it hurts the Braves' PR none the less.

And you know he was only GM with the O's for 1 year. IMO no where near enough time to build a team.

I know but that team way underperformed for the talent on that team; regardless, I honestly think if Dayton Moore was still in Atlanta when JS "retired" he would've had the job...

Additionally, I understand the circumstances Wren's dealing with; he doesn't have nearly the same amount of money as JS did in the 90s (I think Liberty Mutual owns the team now - right?)

No doubt Dayton Moore would have the job if he wouldn't had left to go to KC. And yes Liberty Media owns the team.

The Braves and Astors will be playing a spring training game today on ESPN. Its good to finally have some Braves baseball back on TV.
