It really depends on too many things to say for sure at the moment. We should have a better idea come spring. Who's catching? How's Lowe doing? How's Ortiz doing? How's Baldelli doing? Beckett? Smoltz? Penny? Then the guys playing in the WBC are going to bring their own sets of questions as well.

There are lots of "what ifs" with this team right now. IF they are healthy and everyone plays like they can, then this is one very good team. Like I said though, way too early too tell and a ton of questions at the onset.

Hats off to the front office for getting the Youkilis deal done. To get two free agent years as part of the deal is huge. I'm guessing given the turn in the economy, Youk and his agent decided making over 10 million a year for the next four was good enough. Youkilis won't be eligible for free agency until his age 35 season now which means this is likely the biggest deal he'll sign in his career.

The guy was pure class too.

He said this was a "ton of money to play baseball, which he loves to do". And that, "more money than he ever thought he would ever make", and "not interested in a few million more to go to another team, that this is good enough, he just wants to play baseball".

Hurray for Tek coming back. Obviously we would still need a younger catching option here soon, but I'm glad this deal got done. His leadership alone is worth the 5 mil...lol. The Sox played this one pretty smart, getting him for less than half his arbitration number (still not sure why he declined).

Hopefully they can maybe work a more favorable trade in the next offseason or even near the deadline this year (thougha deadline deal may not necessarliy be in our favor if there is a need for the trade).

          Anyway, welcome back Jason!

Yeah i'm quite happy with the deal, it would have been nice to get one of the Rangers catchers but I would have been content either way. At least this buys us a bit more time and gives us a little more leverage in trades, teams could milk more out of us if they knew we were desperate for a catcher.

            Just kidding.

I'm one of the "lucky" ones to get selected to purchase opening day or yankees games tickets today. Which means I get to spend my afternoon in a virtual waiting room. I'm not eager enough to drop the kind of money the Red Sox want on tickets to kill a Saturday so I won't do this for too long.

You do remember that your team thought they had him in 03 before the Yankees stepped in. I wish the Sox would have gotten him. I never could stand this guy. I dislike him as much as Bonds and Clemens.
