Jays 2010: New GM, New Outlook

Now that the stench of the JP Era is gone maybe some of my fellow Jays fans on this board will come out and make our team thread a bit more active this time around. At least I hope so.

Anyways the Jays are discussing an Overbay for Snyder trade right now. I think this makes sense in the long run because when Snyder was healthy as the starting catcher for Arizona in '08 he had quite a good OBP and some pop in his bat. His AVG sucked but I think that can be worked on as it seems he has a good eye at the plate.

This would free up some money AND allow the Jays to shop for a more powerful 1B bat or do what I've been thinking they should do and install Travis Snider at first.

    What you guys think?

Still waiting on AA to make his first move. Hopefully it's getting rid of Halladay so all this drama can stop.

      Halladay Wants To Move On?
By Drew Silva [November 21, 2009 at 1:50pm CST]

Blue Jays CEO Paul Beeston told George King III of the New York Post that ace Roy Halladay "is not inclined to sign" with Toronto if (or when) he hits free agency.

Halladay, 32, is only under contract through the upcoming season and Toronto might not have the kind of money it would take to extend his contract anyway. "We would like to sign him, he is an original Blue Jay and we have never had a pitcher as good as him," Beeston told The Post on Friday. "But he is not inclined to sign with us."

The right-hander has a 148-76 career record and a 3.43 lifetime ERA. He went 17-10 this past season with a 2.79 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a league-leading nine complete games and four shutouts. There's a good chance he'll be traded before he nears the open market. A deal could go down this winter, or we might have to wait until mid-summer. Either way, all of baseball's biggest spenders are sure to at least try for his services.

No new outlook for this Jays fan, unless we are spending Sox/Yankee money this team is gonna be no better than the JP era.
