    Re: 2011 Baltimore Orioles

Yeah I had tickets in the third row on the third base side for the Rangers game that was rained out that Friday, then had to trade them for fifth row against the Mariners on May 11th cuz I had to work the next day and couldn't go see the DH. Damn shame, as Britton quieted the Texas bats.

Of course, the only bats that are quiet right now are ours... Ugh...

Other than the Cal Ripken reference and what everyone was wearing, that had nothing to do with the Orioles

        Catchy song, though.

So am I the only one that's partially convinced that Nick Markakis is in the process of pulling a Ben Grieve?

            Cold man... real cold.

Wasn't Grieve hit with injuries (to go along with his extended sophomore slump) though?

Personally, I never thought Nick was head to the level many seemed to think he was but he's definitely better than he's played so far this year.

Would the O's spend the money to sign Prince Fielder? I can only imagine him hitting to a 318 RF for 81 games. I know that it is a pipe dream, but I can dream can't I? Maybe I will make it happen in MLB 11.

                Re: 2011 Baltimore Orioles

So is this really what I'm to expect for the rest of my life? A culture of losing that looks like it will never get better, ever. I was 10 years old when the Orioles last went to the playoffs. Are we cursed? Who's fault is this and why is it happening to a once storied franchise? I just don't understand it!

Why is Showalter PH hitting Pie for Reimold and then have the balls to pinch-run Wieters with my ACE? Are you serious? This type of over-managing is costing us games, too. Reimold has been playing very well and after the Friday night game where he hustled down the line for an in-field single should have at the very least garnered him one damn at-bat!

I have a feeling MacPhail is going to walk away from this quietly after the season is over. Would be a shame, too, since we're in year 4 of the 5-year plan. This is such a blower I tell you. Such a blower...

They're never going to win a World Series in my lifetime, and that's even if I live for 60 more years.

While it looks bleak, I wouldn't say it's impossible. I think the Rays are the perfect model, and they even play in your own division. Bottom line, is you just need to hit on a couple of draft picks, and then you'll have a shot.

Our development system is a joke. Look at Matusz and Tillman. They get called up and all of a sudden lose 3-4 MPH off of their fastball and their stuff takes a downgrade, then they suck. The jury is still out on Britton, but the ONLY pitching prospect we've had in the past 10 years that panned out was Bedard. Our whole minor league system needs a complete overhaul, and we need a GM who will actually invest internationally.

Not to mention we have one of the worst owners in professional sports. We won't sniff the playoffs until the Angelos family sells the team.

There lies the answer. We need a new owner who is willing to spend a few bucks on players instead of nickel and diming with so called prospects that never fully develop. It is a failed franchise simple as that.

Our pitching is horrid...they never should've let Kranny go.

I just posted this on Twitter...man is it gonna be nice when the Orioles are buyers at the deadline instead of sellers. The last time they were even close to being in a position to buy was in 2005, but the only guy they got was Eric Byrnes.

Lest we not forget the botched Bigbie/Julio/Penn for Burnett/Lowell deal that Angelos nixed because of Lowell's contract. Who knows what would've happened had that deal come to fruition.

How sad is this...O's to hit 30 homers in a season since 2000:

                              2002: Tony Batista - 31
                              2004: Miguel Tejada - 34
                              2008: Aubrey Huff - 32
                              2011: Mark Reynolds - 31 and counting

Reynolds and Hardy have the chance to become the 5th pair of Orioles to hit 30 in the same season:

                              1966: Frank Robinson - 49, Boog Powell - 34
                              1969: Boog Powell - 37, Frank Robinson - 32
                              1987: Larry Sheets - 31, Eddie Murray - 30
                              1996: Brady Anderson - 50, Rafael Palmeiro - 39
