I'm glad you made this thread. I was going to make it a few days back but I didn't think anyone would really care. You and me, chris, will probably be the only participants in this thread. But still, haha.

    I hope we sign Cespedes.

Also, your avatar is excellent. You sir, have good taste.

      Haha for sure.

Idk I want him for the talent, but part of me is fine if we don't get him. Saves $$ on someone that has some risk, put in Bonifacio in CF even more speed in the lineup or Coghlan if he's healthy/back to hitting how he can.

        Re: 2012 Miami Marlins Thread

Lately I've been going through different lineup ideas and I feel like there are a lot of ways Ozzie can go with this team on opening night.

Assuming Bonifacio's 2011 season was not a fluke I think he could be a solid number two hitter or even hit leadoff.

        Reyes
        Bonifacio
        Hanley
        Stanton
        Gaby
        LoMo
        Infante
        Buck
        Johnson

        or

        Reyes
        Infante
        Hanley
        Stanton
        Gaby
        LoMo
        Buck
        Bonifacio
        Johnson

or (this one might be a bit of a stretch)

        Bonifacio
        Reyes
        Stanton
        Gaby
        LoMo
        Hanley
        Infante
        Buck
        Johnson

If Hanley doesn't improve over last season I really can't see a reason for him to continue to hit 3rd so if I'm Ozzie I might consider sliding him down the lineup a bit.

        What do you think?

I think more then likely it'll be:

          Reyes
          Bonifacio
          Hanley
          Stanton
          Gaby
          LoMo
          Infante
          Buck
          Pitcher

Infante/Bonifacio could be switched and in that case I could see Boni hitting 8th.

If for some reason Hanley does not get over last season I think Stanton would stay at 4th, and we could see LoMo or Gaby in the 3rd spot possibly even Reyes if Boni is getting on base.

I think Infante would be better at #2, put Buck at #7 and Bonnie at #8. That way Bonnie can get on base for the pitcher, so you are just wasting outs on the 8 hole. People would have to think twice about walking him to get to the pitcher. Just keep the pressure on the opposition.

I personally like gaby in the 3 hole since he has been our most consistent hitter the past couple seasons, unless of course hanley is hitting like he did in 2009. Holy crap this can be a lethal lineup if hanley is back to normal.

This lineup has the potential of going all the way, I mean it's SCARY if they stay healthy. Great rotation, great hitters, great bench (coghlan should be an everyday starter so they have a young OF)

Yeah lineup is solid just need to produce.

Hanley looked good at 3rd last night he just had that one play where he figured Jose got it or whatever

The potential for this lineup is ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if the Marlins exploded in the next few weeks.

Gaby is concerning me, he is chasing those high pitches much more frequently. That's very atypical of him.

Yeah he's been a little lost at the plate, hopefully he'll get it together. Today Joey Cora actually put Coghlan in at LF and LoMo over at 1st late, i'm assuming it was just for defense but still.

For the most part tho the lineup is starting to produce. LoMo has been impressing me with his ABs. Infante is hot and Hanley is really in a groove atleast off these last 2 games.

Hanley seems to have found his groove again. This is a scary lineup if he keeps doing what he's doing and giancarlo and gaby finally get it together

I'm not too worried about Giancarlo, he's getting some hits/good ABs. Gaby to me just has looked lost at the plate

I can't understand why Hanley swings for the fences every single swing. He should be the leader of that team and start taking smarter at bats.

As for the lineup, I really think they missed the boat this off season by not signing a veteran 3/4 hitter with some fan draw. Jose Reyes is a nice addition, but he is not the offensive piece the Marlins were missing.
