5 innings 4 ER. No good not great. First two innings were great. His debut will overshadowed by the *** whipping that Toronto unleashed in the next 3 innings.

From what I've read it seems like some of the blame could be placed on Wieters for calling too many off-speed pitches. Your pitcher throws 94-97, can control it, and was having success with it, so why complicate things?

Same reason Frank Vogel took out Hibbert. Sometimes smart guys screw up, but I have less of a problem with that, than having him over throw due to it being his first start and inturn flatten his fastball.

Chris Tillman is 9-2, and has won 6 straight!?!?!?!? Man, where did that come from? Good for him, maybe he can get an All-Star nod, for his great first half.

Finally some resolution with Dylan Bundy and its not good news.

Dylan Bundy, the Baltimore Orioles pitcher who was the No. 2 prospect in baseball at the start of this season, received the news a pitcher dreads: He needs Tommy John surgery. Bundy, who has battled through arm issues since spring … Continue reading →

Really hope he can make a full recovery. I was liking the idea of Him, Gaussman, Tillman and Gonzalez going 1-4 in the rotation of the future. I guess having him pitch 120+ plus pitches in back to back days in HS was a bad idea.

I'm starting to get kinda bummed the closer the trade deadline gets because it seems pretty obvious that Angelos/Duquette won't get a quality pitcher because we "can't afford it". I would kill to have Matt Garza, but I'm afraid we'll settle for someone with a 4.50+ ERA and costs less than $3 million a year.

Don't think price is the real issue. They don't want to part with some minor league pieces when they have guys on the cusp is being in the bigs. Last year bought them some time and rather than throwaway guys like Hoes, Urririta, Rodriguez, Schoop etc. Play this year out a see where we are at the winter meetings.

See, I wouldn't mind doing a Eduardo Rodriguez/Arrieta/Hoes or Avery/minor league SP for Garza...IMO he's totally worth it. Hoes to me is a 4th OF at best...gets on base and hits for average but has no power whatsoever. I am higher on Avery, but he's more of a long shot to be a solid ML contributor.

The fact that they let Saunders and Reynolds walk last year solely because of their price ($6 million) is really worrying to me.

They let Reynold walk because there was no place for his error filled glove and they were over the 33 HRs, 180 Ks. Saunders, I think was a money thing, but Buck was tired of Reynolds and wanted to give Davis everyday ABs at 1st, I think he made the right move.

Letting Reynolds walk did work out...I'm still really concerned because since he's been hired Duquette's been trying to say that we're a small market team and can't spend a ton of money, and then reading stuff about how they don't want to pick up the rest of Nolasco's salary for the year (approx. $6 million) because it's too much...I mean, we just had a payroll over $100 million a few years ago, and since then we've seen them establish MASN as a regional network, not to mention increased attendance. It just seems like not trying to make a push at the trade deadline would be a slap in the face to the fans.
