I don't like Fredi either, but I don't think you can put this all on Fredi. This team played well over their heads in the first half to even be close to .500. Law of averages played out. If there's a manager out there you think can be the guy, they should do it, but I don't think this is a situation where you make a change just to make a change.

It isn't just that they are losing...it's the way. This team has given up...that speaks volumes to me about Fredi. They gave up on him last year and then you have the collapse in 2011. This isn't a talented team, but they aren't as bad as they've played in the 2nd half.

Bethancourt is back. Might as well see if he can figure it out at the big-league level.

Wonder if there is a deal in the works for AJ?

Completely nonplussed about the Braves right now. Boring and pointless to watch.

              Yup.

I'm curious what prospects they bring up in September.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Bethancourt was far better in Triple A than he ever has been before, so maybe he finally got it. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, rake the rest of this year and be a quality mlb catcher going forward

I'm looking forward to seeing Olivera though. Hope that guy gives us some hope.

I haven't watched a game in a long time, that may change when the call ups happen, hope they get to play a lot and not just watch.

I backed this team from the off season until the end of June. I haven't watched a game in over a month. It feels like they're tanking on purpose. This team wasn't that bad early on. Honestly, it was one of my favorite teams in recent memory. After the Uribe, Kelly, and Wood trades this team fell apart.

They aren't tanking on purpose. There's almost no benefit to that in baseball. This team started hot, but the law of averages caught up; they were never as good as they looked. Especially offensively. Freeman has missed 43 games at this point and still leads the team in home runs and extra base hits and is 5 off in rbi. When you take a below average offensive team and take away their star player, you get the worst offense in baseball.

That's basically it. Freeman's injuries killed this team dead.

We knew going in this team wasn't any good...they surprised us with a solid first half, and the wheels falling off has been hard to watch, but I'm still watching every chance I get. Excited for the Yankees' series this weekend.

Do I wish we were contenders every year? Yes, but we don't have a payroll like the Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox...so we have to rebuild and hope things work. I do believe better things are in store for this franchise as you can see the young talent starting to accumulate in the system. If there was a year for Freddie to be hurt, I'd rather it be a year like this than a year we actually had a chance to do something.

Anyway, I expect next year will be a a solid team with a chance to be .500 and then the year after that we will be legitimate contenders in the NL East.

                              You are exactly right.

His injury made the other folks try and step up and it wasn't their game. We were at least within shouting distance of 1st when Freddie went down and afterwards it was all downhill.

I am glad that Hart broke up the bunch now though...would rather start over now than become DET or PHI. Personally, I am QUITE interested in our offseason. I'm curious what Hart will do and what expectations he'll set coming into ST with the farm system.

But...that's looking ahead toward next season. I'm with JTS here as I haven't watched but maybe 1 game since the ASG. Just too painful.

.500 is higher than I have hopes for. I don't expect them to spend in free agency, and this team still has holes. The only "prospect" that will be up is Olivera, which could be big, and the starting staff should be another year better. I also think they may sell high on Maybin this offseason, depending on how healthy you think he can stay going forward, given his history. We're on pace for 69 wins, .500 would be a pretty significant jump. It's possible, but I'd rather not get my hopes up.

2017 is the year, because of the extra revenue the new stadium will create, if from the naming rights if nothing else. Our terrible TV deal still hangs over us, but at least then we can operate like a mid market instead of a small market.
