Yea and that could be the case for D.J too. But Torres is supremely talented. I don't know exactly what happened. Talk is. He changed his mechanics. But talk is cheap. Gotta see it.

Looking forward to seeing Hicks back too. Missed him last year. He does so many things well. Need a healthy year please.

Thoughts? Does Judge not want to be here? Do you guys think he should get more money? Do we try to trade him at the deadline to avoid another Cano leaving for nothing scenario?

Source: Aaron Judge's camp has been asking for at least 9 years and more money per year than the $30.5M per year that Brian Cashman said the Yankees had offered.

If Judge has a full, healthy season, and puts up the numbers we know he’s capable of, I’m now pretty confident he’ll be gone after this year. Cashman going public with this right as the season starts feels like a calculated PR move, preparing the fan base for Judge’s departure by swaying public opinion against him.

Getting out ahead of it and making sure it’s ‘not their fault’ when he signs elsewhere, ‘they tried their hardest, but his demands were just too unreasonable and greedy’. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people are eating it right up too. It seems like a dumb move, otherwise. Judge even reacted saying he felt like it was private between him and the Yankees.

Ultimately, it’s just a slimy move from Cashman and Hal, IMO. Not the way to handle things with the face of the team. If Hal weren’t likely on board with it, I’d say it’s just another reason to fire Cashman. Don’t play optics games, and try to make him look bad to save face if/when he walks in FA.

I do think it’s the right move to let him go though, if that’s the kind of contract he’s looking for. If another team is willing to give him that type of contract, I say let them. He’s not worth that money for 9-10 years. I like that we’re not meeting that asking price, I just don’t like the way we are going about it.

If we don’t pay Judge, this past offseason does get way more questionable though. The only real excuse for passing on every star SS is that we ‘had to save payroll’ for a huge Judge extension, and didn’t want to take on any more large long term commitments before seeing where that lands. If we didn’t pay a SS, didn’t pay Judge, then what’s the plan? Has Cashman decided the WS window is closed with this core, and now we’re just in transition waiting for the next wave (Volpe, Jasson, etc) to arrive?

Lastly, I don’t see how trading Judge is possible unless the team falls out of playoff contention by the deadline. You can’t trade Aaron Judge and pretend the goal is still to win it all this year.

The plan is to make as much money as possible while fielding a decent team. Not a championship team. No way I would go 9 years or spend that much money.

Cashman passing on Verlander over a 2nd year option is looking better and better every day. We were so close…….

You really just can't ever tell. Going after Cole was the right move too and I applauded the Yankees FO.

But he hasn't lived up to **** yet either. It's so hard to find reliable pitching. And the Yankees have tried to grow arms. We got Jomo and Sevy. If they can just stay healthy.

Good to see us finally beating up on the teams we should be. Rizzo’s really bailing out the front office by turning back the clock some years. Gallo is just as painful to watch at the plate as he was last year, really hope he’s replaced in July.

Speaking only from an offense standpoint, is it a hot take to say I’d rather have Gardner back? Yankee Gallo has just been ugly hitting wise, and it’s becoming a decent sample size. Career Yankee, farewell season, clubhouse leader, at least a bit more productive with the bat then Gallo has been in NY, more entertaining style of play then HR, (mostly) Strikeout, or Walk. He’s also a LH bat.

If Gallo doesn’t get back to what he was in Texas, Cashman won’t pay up for a serious OF upgrade, and Gardner is still in playing shape and ready to go………sign me up for the shortened Brett Gardner Farewell Tour.

We are absolutely dominant right now. Enjoy this ride fellas. This is fun. Contributions up and down the lineup.

Haven’t been over here in a while, surprised this thread completely died since then, even through the trade deadline.

Anyone else high on Bader? Seems like the majority opinion of the fan base is overwhelmingly against the trade, but if he can get healthy and be the same player he’s been, I’m excited to see what he can as the CF. A big upgrade from Hicks and Locastro. If Judge in CF isn’t an option long term, Bader is a really solid addition.

Definitely looking like an ugly fumble from Cashman to pull the trigger on it before being 100% certain the Lopez deal was done, but if Sevy is ready for the playoffs and we can make it the rest of the way without Monty, it’ll be a good deal in the end, I think.

I’d love to see both Judge and Benintendi back next year, even though I doubt it happens. An OF of Benintendi/Stanton, Bader, and Judge/Stanton with one rotating through the DH spot, has to be one of if not the overall best OF group in MLB.

I think this is the best lineup the Yankees have had in a long long time. Losing Carpenter definitely weakens it though. But with a healthy Rizzo and Stanton. This is such a balanced lineup. They finally figured out to mix and match righties and lefties in the lineup. They used to be so righty dominant.

I don't know about Bader. Monty isn't a world beater but I personally wouldn't have done it. I prefer Monty in the playoffs to Taillon or German.

The pitching scares me. Losing King was such a blow. Holmes has hit a wall. The only consistent guy it feels like we have right now is Cortes. Cole needs to step up. Has to be better. Strikes out lot of guys. So his stuff is there, but is too prone to giving up Homeruns. Everyone else you just never know. Hopefully Montas brings it. Had a horrible audition. But means nothing. Cole, Cortes and Montas could be a hell of a top three if they are right.

Regarding Bader though. He's obviously an upgrade over Hicks. Hicks is just not even worth playing any more. He's just an overrated player. Glad we got Benny too though.

We gotta get through the dog days and hopefully get relatively healthy going in to the postseason this is a great team. Be a real shame if they can't at least make it to a WS.

This team isn’t going to win a thing with Hal in charge. He is an account who cares about the bottom line rather than winning. As long as the chicken buckets and hats are selling, Hal doesn’t care.

Also, as long as Hal is in charge, Cashman isn’t going anywhere, and he is long past his due date.

As for Judge, I don’t see him returning, and I don’t see the aforementioned bean counter shelling out the required capital to retain him.
