Anyone want to see an RPI sink like the titanic??

Memphis is now at #3 in the RPI, probably will stay in the top 10 through new year's with games against the Zags and Texas coming up. However, look at the rest of C-USA.

    *@ East Carolina (3-4, 0-0): #293 (SOS: #302)
    *SMU (4-3, 0-0): #291 (SOS: #327)
    *@ Southern Mississippi (2-6, 0-0): #295 (SOS: #256)
    *UAB (4-2, 0-0): #102 (SOS: #141)
    *UCF (4-1, 0-0): #111 (SOS: #168)
    *@ Tulsa (3-4, 0-0): #223 (SOS: #182)
    *@ Rice (3-4, 0-0): #255 (SOS: #190)
    *@ Marshall (3-3, 0-0): #270 (SOS: #318)
    *Southern Mississippi (2-6, 0-0): #295 (SOS: #256)
    *@ Tulane (2-5, 0-0): #280 (SOS: #245)
    *UTEP (4-2, 0-0): #300 (SOS: #328)
    *Tulsa (3-4, 0-0): #223 (SOS: #182)
    *@ UAB (3-2, 0-0): #102 (SOS: #141)
    *Houston (4-1, 0-0): #12 (SOS: #4)

Memphis's RPI is going to sink fast no matter how bad they kill these teams.

Houston beat 'Zona, but i dunno how much of a quality win that is right now. I might be wrong but hasn't UAB been in the tourney the past two years? The rest of the conference is weak, very weak. I don't really understand the RPI does it affect ur ranking during the season, and ur seed during the tourney?

I think this is more of a problem of conferece realignment than the RPI. Memphis shoulda gotten outta there for a better conference because C-USA is about as bad as it comes nowadays.

Still, the RPI doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot unless your a bubble team. Most major conference teams can still control their own destiny. It sucks that Memphis didn't get outta that dead conference cause it will hurt them in the future, I wish they woulda joined the Big East instead of South Florida. But still, if Memphis finishes with one or two loses in the conference season (which they should) they'll end up with a #4 seed at worst. But if they get upset by a handful of those terrible teams they will definately suffer.

The RPI is flawed, but looks like the work of Einstein compared to the BCS.

Bingo, ehh, this means that Memphis might have 2 losses come selection Sunday and wind up a #3 or #4. Would you want to be in that bracket if you are a #1 seed?

No. It reminds me of last year. Washington got the #1 seed and had to play Louisville the #4 seed, we all know how that turned out.

C-USA has 9 teams in the 200s or lower. The WCC has 8 teams. It won't be as bad.

Wasn't comparing the 2. Just pointing out how Zags conference sched will be an albatross on their record come time to pick the seedings.
