The media doesn't know what to do

I am loving this underdog theme of the 2006 Final Four. Not only did two SEC teams crash the party, so did a CAA and a Pac-10 team...wow, just wow.

Seriously, though....all you ever hear about is Big East this, ACC that...with a little Big 10 and Big 12 sprinkled in here and there. It's all I've heard about the last five years and I'm frickin' sick of it. This is sweet redemption for the SEC schools who have seen GOOD teams come up short the last couple of the years, as well as the Pac-10 (whose teams play way past Dick Vitale's bedtime), and, of course, George Mason, the mid-major who could.

All I can say is, eat your heart out Digger, Seth, and Andy Katz...anybody from ESPN or CBS who attempts to brainwash us on a daily basis by not including other programs and players in your highlight reels and commercials and promos. Not only will the ratings be down next weekend b/c of the absence of a Duke or a UConn, somebody at CBS or ESPN is going to have to acknowledge one of their darling schools is not going to be cutting down the nets this year.

I love it. Absolutely love it.

Gotta give a big shout out to Billy Packer in this thread.

Poor guy is actually going to have to know some players out of a non BCS conference. Man, that's gonna be rough.

Who know's, maybe he'll get sick all the sudden and not be able to do it.

Beautiful. I couldn't agree more. The only problem is, as many times as these "experts" have been wrong, they never admit it, they always make excuses or avoid talking about what they predicted wrong.

      Here's a couple of examples:

Dick Vitale picking his Dukies to go the final game. Then when LSU beats them he just talks about how underrated LSU is.

Also, Doug Gottleib (the guy that seems nerdy and argues with everyone) picked Duke over LSU then when he was wrong he goes "I know I was wrong yesterday but I PROMISE I'll be right this time, Texas beats LSU tomorow."

      Idiots.

      ROLL TI-....SEC!

Idiots...yet they cause enough stir you still come back to watch them each and every day...

I think they've done their job.

Actually I got sick of them as early as selection sunday and have been watching very little of them. I find what you guys on here and ESPN.com's message board have to say to be more intersting and thought provoking than what those idiots say.

I think what started it all was Digger Phelps saying Marquette was gonna run the table in Oakland and if they didnt it'd be UCLA. Being a Bama fan I was very pissed about that. Then Digger was talking about how Indiana and Gonzaga were gonna match up against each other and I'm thinking there's a great chance that SDSU will come out of that section. Even though they didnt you still shouldnt be previewing games that havnt even been set up yet.

          Drives me nuts.

Damn, that would be really disappointing...

I bet for the next week we'll hear Digger, Dickie V, and company tell us how great of a story George Mason is and how they were very underrated, but they don't have enough to have a shot against Florida.

And hopefully, next Saturday night we'll be laughing at them once again

It's not a conference thing as much as it is a favorites thing. Vitale basically picks the team in white to win every tournament game every year - they did in 2003 when Cuse was the underdog in their last 3 games. "Oklahoma baby! Texas baby! Kansas baby! Big 12 Baby!" Everyone was praising Kentucky when they were a #1 seed; Vitale's just all about chalk.
I like Clark Kellog because he's a little unconventional but usually money with his picks, although he has been off this year.
