I agree, CCSU will be a tough out for any #1 or #2 seed.

Big Sky update: Weber State still leading, 71-59 wth 10 minutes left.

NAU cuts it down to 8.

      Come on Wildcats.

Didn't Weber State scare a major a few years ago (maybe '99)?

Both teams have a small potential for an upset in round one.

#14 Weber State beat #3 North Carolina 76-74 back in 1999.

Last time Weber State made the tourney was in 2003 as a #12 seed. They lost to #5 Wisconsin, 81-74.

Wow, Weber State had a 21 point lead in the first half, now it's a two point game with 4:41 left.

            I can't believe this.

And they had a chance to beat Florida that year in regulation in the 2nd round, but one of their top FT shooters missed 1 of 3 FTs at the end of game, where Florida eventually won in OT.

The team was led by Harold "The Show" Arceneaux (scored 36 and 34 points in the 2 games in the tourney I believe) and future NBA PG Eddie Gill. It was a treat to be able to watch those two guys live. Wow!

I'll never forget being in Indianapolis for the first round games (Auburn/Winthrop, Oklahoma State/Syracuse) and being in the hotel that night and seeing the score scroll that Weber State won. I was in utter disbelief.

And I'll tell you something. I just looked over Weber State's past tourney games. They've losses have been very close.

                    1999: Beat #3 UNC by 2 (76-74); Lost to #6 Florida by 8 (82-74)
                    1995: Beat #3 Michigan State by 7 (79-72); Lost to #6 Georgetown by 2 (53-51)
                    1983: Lost to #8 Washington State by 10 (62-52)

Yeah, I don't know much about the '80 or '83 teams, but the '95, '99, and '03 teams were some of the best ever in Big Sky Conference history. Those teams featured some of the best players in the Conference history also. I can't remember the top player from the '95 team, but he played in the NBA for a year or two. The afforementioned Gill and Arceneaux from the '99 team. And the 2003 team is the only team in Big Sky history to run the conference undefeated. That team also was led by Jermaine Boyette, who the best scoring point guard I've seen from the Big Sky.

This year's team isn't that talented, but they could scare a team for a half. NAU, on the other hand, could have put a big scare into any team. They are so good offensively and shooting the ball, that they can be in any game. Their last 2 tourney games as a 15 seed, in '98 and 2000, they nearly defeated Cincinnati and St. John's, losing both by 1-3 points.

Weber won me some dough in 95, and 99....but this year I don't think they will win or be in a close loss. They just don't have the talent those two teams had to win a game much less come close to winning one.
