Why do players who "suck" transfer to another college looking for more PT..

I mean, if you're capable of scoring, playing defense, or just being a body on the court, I'm sure the coach of any school will give you some time.

But I'm talking about a local kid from UNM.

His name is Chad Bell. He's a 6-11, 220 lb, sophmore center from california.

After a sad season for him, he decided to leave our program for a program that will give him more PT.

This guy was given the chance to play. He's our biggest. He was our biggest and tallest player. Yet he couldn't get it done. We gave him the chance.

Does he think he'll get handed a starting Division I spot on any squad in the nation? Many places you have to earn time on the court. I just didn't see Chad working hard enough to get more time.

What do you all have to say about transfers who basicially didn't contribute to your team the previous year looking to leave the program for more PT.

Yeah it happens. Usually they go to a program lower on the totem pole.

Mizzou had a guy transfer in Jan. Could have used his minutes too. Now he's at Illinois State. (Not U of Illinois).

People have to lead their own life. Some just can't handle a big time college basketball program.

Just wish him good luck and forget about him.

I wish him luck and all, but I don't know where he's getting this logic from.

He's stated many times that he wants to be the teams go-to-player when Ruben leaves. He's stated recently after his depature that he wants to go to a big time program that get's a lot of publicity. "A local California school."

(CAL, was one school he wants to go to.)

I'm sure the pressure to play in THE PIT and for the lobos is great, but I'm sure the atmosphere even further west is just as bad.

A good kid........ Maybe he'll do good with his family around.

I know that football is different, but look at what Justin Fargas did by transferring from Michigan to USC. It's a somewhat different situation, but he wasn't getting enough plays at the position he wanted to play, so he transferred. Now he's a 1st or 2nd round pick. Sometimes a situation just isn't good for someone.

However, I think I agree with you in most cases, where unless they drop to a lower tier school it isn't gonna matter. If I suck at Kentucky, will I be that much better at Duke? I guess we could go into the Offensive and Defensive schemes, and there could be other reasons, but mostly I'd say no

Usually in cases like that Wally, they are an idiot and think they can get PT somewhere else when they can't...

How could he not hack it at Rutgers? He was their leading scorer. He just wanted to play with his buddy Jay Williams. That shows they type of player Jones is willing to put his on "superstar" potential had he stayed at Rutgers and become a more complete player at Duke.
