Re: The Official 2009 "Running Commentary of Every Single Tourney Game" Thread
The seeding this year for the tourny was a joke and it showed.
14 top 4 seeds in the Sweet 16 with one being a 5 seed and so far, the Elite 8 teams are two 1 seeds and two 3 seeds.
Looks to me like the committee did an amazing job.Comment

Do you have no heart? If dook getting stomped isn't entertaining, I don't know what to tell you.
The seeding for this year's tournament has been the best seeding ever.

Yeah some of those top four seeds advanced, but IMO some of those teams are overrated. Some of teams in first two rounds were no competitions for some of these teams and it showed. I can see all four #1 seeds making it again this year, but like I said, that South region will be tough.Comment

How can you be overrated if you advanced?
Your issue appears to be more with the poor quality of basketball than with the seeding. The selection committee's job isn't to make good competition, it's to seed the 4 best teams #1, 5-8 #2, 9-12 #3 and so on. It's up to the teams to create a quality product.Comment

Honestly I had Duke losing in my bracket(s) so that was already a forgone conclusion.

That doesn't make any sense.

So your contention is that the teams that have lost already were more worthy of higher seeds?Comment

4 seed Washington lost to 5 Purdue, and 5 Purdue and 4 Xavier lost to 1s. Both 2s that lost lost to 3s.
1 out of 16 "highly seeded" teams lost to teams that weren't either ranked higher or one seed worse. You can't do better than that.Comment

Aside from Wake Forest, which highly seeded teams lost?

As far as Wake Forest. I was 50/50 about them, because I wanted to put them in my final four, but I also knew Cleveland State was a sleeper because they had beaten Butler. So that lost wasn't suprising.Comment

This is the one year I wasn't partial to Big 12 teams and it has screwed me big time. I had Mizzou losing to Marquette, Okie State losing to Tennessee, and OU losing to Syracuse.
Knowing my luck, the only pick that will be right is OU getting beat tomorrow.***My Teams***

MLB - St. Louis Cardinals

Not only was it great to see Duke get beat but the manner in which they got beat down was great.
The last second desperation heaves by Sheyer were fantastic to see, as was Lance Thomas yelling at that scrub on the bench.Comment

Let's go Cuse and Louisville! I want 5 BE members in the Elite 8 and I think it's gonna happen.
I didn't think the Xavier/Pitt game would be so close, I thought Pitt was going to beat them by 12+.
No way Dook could defend all those Nova guards, also didn't think Henderson would go 1-14 from the field or whatever. Definitely didn't see the margin of victory coming.
Been saying it since Selection Sunday, I've never seen a team get more unwarranted hype than Memphis this March. You don't subtract Rose, CDR and Joey Dorsey and add just Tyreke Evans and become Final Four worthy.
UConn looked okay, Purdue played very good defense IMO and it was an ugly Big 10 style game. Glad to get the win though."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
