I'm still smiling hard from last night. When Scottie made that shot, I lost my marbles and did a cartwheel. Terrific game!

UL has a battle on their hands. Low scoring game, MSU unphazed but UL's pressure, UL looks very shaky in their half court offense. This one looks like it's going down to the wire."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The Official 2009 "Running Commentary of Every Single Tourney Game" Thread
No offense, but this is a really short-sighted view. WVU benefits when the rest of the Big East plays well in the tournament. Think about it - in 1985, 3 of 4 teams in the Final Four were from the Big East. That went down in history, and there was huge interest in playing in the Big East from many key people (TV contracts, recruits, coaches).
Sure - Villanova, Louisville and UConn are Pitt's rivals during Big East play, but if all 3 of them go to the Final Four and the National Championship game is Louisville/UConn vs. Villanova, Pitt will benefit from this exposure (along with every other Big East team, including WVU). I guess I could see you not rooting for Pitt, since we are your arch-rivals. But - it won't help WVU one but if Louisville loses to Michigan State today and it eventually ends up with a Michigan State-UNC/OK final (via Nova and UConn losses).
For a fan of another Big East team, the above scenario with a Big East washout would be a classic example of a "pyrrhic victory" - as you would be "happy" at the Big East (and your team WVU by extension) losing out on this amazing chance to go down in history.
This isn't 1985. We have computers. We have cable. We have constant media coverage. Exposure isn't necessary. Kids know well in advance about these school and what the Big East is all about. We're not talking about the West Coast Conference here.
Louisville winning benefits one school...Louisville. Thinking it will help Rutgers and South Florida and West Virginia or any other Big East school is silly.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

1999 - MSU vs. UK, St. Louis. 'Cats going for their fourth straight final four appearance. Some tall white guy named A.J. Granger comes off the pine and starts drilling trifectas. MSU wins.
2005 - Shannon Brown and Maurice Ager go haywire in the 2nd half against a Chuck Hayes-led squad down in Austin, TX. Both players are solid players who will end up in the NBA some day but they are STREAKY shooters....but they don't miss much in this game. MSU wins in Double Overtime.
2008 - UofL vs. MSU, Indy. Goran Suton starts raining in 3's from never-never land. MSU ____????
Still a long way to go, but un-freaking believable how the same Izzo-led team continues to ride some random guy in the regional final!"He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

And it won't hurt WVU (or any other Big East school) if Louisville loses either.

Hey - you can disagree with me if you want, but you are on the boards - you know that in college football and college basketball, teams get respect from fans, the media, TV, recruits and coaches based both on how THEY play vs. WHO they play.
Look at Memphis. They won 30+ games this year, but everyone discounts it because of their wins in a weak conference.
Why do you think Mike Rosario (a McDonald's All-American) signed with Rutgers last year? To be part of the storied Rutgers basketball tradition? No - he wanted to be an impact player in the Big East....
Look at Providence. They had a mediocre record this year, but were a serious bubble team because of who they play. If 3 Big East teams go to the Final Four, the other teams will get longer looks from TV and recruits. Sure - it won't turn South Florida or DePaul around next year, but how could you say that a Seton Hall or St. John's won't gain at all from being in a "historic" Big East this year?
That is silly.Comment

Spartans penetrating into the lane at will and knocking down the shots when it gets kicked out.
They're really racking up the fouls though. Cardinals with just a parade to the free throw line.Comment

Jesus this has gotten ugly. As a UConn fan I am not looking forward to playing this Michigan State team in their home state at the FF."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
