2011 G/F PJ Hairston commits to UNC. #19 in the class per Scout, #23 on Rivals.
No real surprise there, he was just waiting to get an offer.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
IU picked up a commitment from the class of 2011 in 6'6 SF Austin Etherington from Arcadia, IN. Etherington is ranked as the 57th player overall by Scout. This makes the 2nd commit for the class of 2011 for Coach Crean to go along with guard Matt Carlino. But, it also leaves IU with only one open scholarship to offer someone for the next 2 classes.Comment

Yeah, he jumped on it. Looks solid, though I always hesitate on commits before their senior year. He's from instate, which I always love. He & Bullock will give this program 2 marquee players that know what this environment is like.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Top basketball recruit Fab Melo to play for Syracuse
Fabrico De Melo, a 7-foot, 267-pound center from Sagemont High School in Florida, has decided to play for Syracuse University, his high school coach confirmed on Tuesday.
The Brazilian native, who goes by Fab Melo and is listed as the No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2010 on Scout.com, has been recruited by several top D-I schools. He narrowed down his list to Syracuse, Louisville, Florida and Miami before making his final decision this week.
"He felt really comfortable with Coach (Jim) Boeheim, (assistant coach) Mike Hopkins and Bernie Fine,'' said Sagemont High School coach Adam Ross, who toured the SU campus with Melo in May. "When we came out of the Carrier Dome, he said to me 'I want to play in this place.'''

Of course you will be fine, but this is definitely a blow. Pitino and staff seemed to really want Melo and to be honest I am surprised he is going to Syracuse. Of course you are still recruiting Josh Smith and while I am not sure he will leave the west coast, if he does it might be for Pitino.
College basketball recruiting is so crazy how things can turn on a dime and usually it is for reasons that the fans never find out.#WeAreUKComment

Fab looks raw as hell to me based on the vids online that I've seen. Not as raw as Hasheem Thabeet but he looks like he has a long way to go especially playing in traffic."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Don't get me wrong...I wanted Fab, but I have faith that we'll find someone to replace him.And it won't have to be next year (2010) because in a local interview, TJ (Terrence Jennings) mentioned that he'll be here all 4 years and I believe that he'll be a monster in 2010, his Junior season.
He still needs this full season and another off-season to work on his offensive game. Right now he's further along defensively than he is offensively.Last edited by countryboy; 08-04-2009, 09:55 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Big Syracuse fan here and didn't know this kid Fab Melo existed until I read he committed to 'Cuse today. Saw the one video of him and was very unimpressed for a top-5 recruit, but a 7-footer is a rarity and I'm sure he'll be a force his sophomore year.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Kind of a project but the upside is tremendous. Although I am not sure if 'Cuse fans will ever get to see him realize it as I think the second he looks comfortable on the floor and is contributing, he will go Lottery. But you never know.#WeAreUKComment
