He just let the master motivator Coach K have a week to let that sink in our players heads. Plus I'm glad we have a week to prepare for WVU this time instead of 1 day like in 2008. He just gave K more ammo to keep this team focused on this game and this game only.

Yeah WVU beat Duke because K only had 1 day to prepare for that game. Not that we didn't dominate you defensively and on the boards. None of that.
For all the "bulletin board material" and "extra motiviation" that that quote will give K (ha ha, what a joke), Huggs will do the same exact thing with the WVU should have been a #1 seed instead of Duke.
In short, that quote means nothing. And Wells is an integral part of a Final Four team, more than what 95% of college students can say at this point.Comment

If Hugs wants to use that #1 seed thing instead of Duke that's fine. Won't get him anywhere esp since they are in the FF. Had they met in the Elite Eight yeah he could have gotten some mileage out of that, but seeing as we were the last #1 seed still standing kinda dampers that doesn't it?
You can try and downplay that quote all you want, but had a Plumlee said that wow would the WVU faithful be up in arms about it. Thing is you wouldn't hear a Duke player pop off at the mouth like that especially before playing in a FF. You can tell who hasn't been there before with quotes like that. Before you even start about how Duke's players haven't either we know what championships are like. We have won 4 already this season.President of the Devils Den

The WVU team that beat Duke 2 years ago isn't half as good as this team. Just FWIW.Comment

Obviously.
The best thing is that WVU hasn't really had a GREAT offensive game from its best player yet. Da has played really good but he's been inefficient offensively. (Hell, neither has Duke really). And I know Devin Ebanks is really looking at the NBA, a great Final Four game would really help his stock as this kid does everything well except for shoot really.Comment

I think West Virginia is too big for Duke, I just think they will outrebound them by a large margin, and Ebanks will be a monster on the glass and in the point column, I don't see Zoubek and the Plumlee's doing much to stop him. Plus they do have perimeter shooters and Duke is gonna have matchup problems with Butler. Truck Bryant will be a key too, how healthy will he be? That's my defense for West Virginia. They are also an extremely athletic and strong team, and have no problems in a Half Court type Defense.
Duke has to come out hitting treys, That's been their game, they can do other things, Singler can not be a no show like last game, he has to return to his real form. Duke is smart, they are not gonna give you anything, All those Second Chance opportunities killed Baylor, and Duke thrived on it and of course the Breaks, Duke ALWAYS Capitalizes on it's breaks. I'ts gonna be a good game, Both teams have excellent coaches. But I see West Virgina taking this one by a slight margin, although it really could go either way.Comment

Taller yes, Zoubek and the Plumlee's are big, but I should have been more descript, I mean Big and athletic, that's where West Virginia has the edge. I just think they will kill them on the boards. I don't have too muck confidence in Zooby and the Plumlee's.Comment

Re: The Official 2010 "Running Commentary of Every Single Tourney Game" Thread
LOL how they are bigger than we are baffles me. I hope they throw that 1-3-1 zone on us, but I doubt they will stay with it as much as man to man. If they stay in that zone we will kill them on the glass and that will lead to either put backs, or kick outs for threes. I actually wouldn't mind see us go zone for awhile and make WVU prove they can shoot from 3 like that again.President of the Devils Den

Nope that team was a small as crap team praying to get by on spreading teams out and hoping they drain about 15-20 threes a game. With a lil bit of Henderson driving sprinkled in late in the season. How we won as many games as we did that year is still surprising to me.President of the Devils Den

They are pretty close in rebounding, from a statistical standpoint from what I've seen. I know Duke has an edge in height, but that doesn't always matter, When I emphasize BIG I mean just beastly, that's just my take I think they will win the boards, and that will be a factor in them winning, just my opinion.Comment
