They were undefeated and proceeded to lose 10 of their last 17, a collapse of epic proportion.

Some of that has to rest on the coach's shoulders.

Some blame definitely. But I don't see the need to fire the coach that got these John Wall/Demarcus Cousins skill-level freshmen to come to Texas in the first place. Let the guy try to win with his hyped up recruiting class before you execute him.

Great night of basketball. Unfortunately I missed the early games due to work. First year I didn't take the first round of the tourney off in years, and boy do I regret it.

11-5 Day 1 with only one Sweet 16 team elminated. Feeling pretty good about things. Tomorrow, a boring day of basketball will bode well for the bracket since I only have one big upset. The second round is where things get interesting for me.

So by this logic, Cuse fans shouldn't be disappointed if they lose in the 2nd round because they weren't even in the pre-season polls, so really, their season is more of a surprise in a good way than it would be a failure if they lose...

Texas was ranked 3rd in the pre-season rankings before we even got a chance to see their most important players play. You don't see a problem with that logic?

Dude. Stop talking. If you honestly think Texas fans shouldn't be disappointed, then I don't know what to tell you. I can't have a problem with your logic, because you aren't using any. But ok.

Oh yeah, there's no way I think they should fire Barnes, I can just see the way Texas closed the season out to be intensely frustrating for Longhorn fans.

*crumples up bracket*...but it was all freaking worth it. Single best day in NCAA Tournament history. If only a 16 Seed had won...still some time for tomorrow.

Preseason polls aside, Texas was 17-0 and #1 in the country at one point.

Which was a pretty great accomplishment considering how inexperienced his players were, wasn't it? Certainly a 17-0 start should be enough to give him one more shot shouldn't it? Even despite a tough end to the season, that game could have just as easily gone the other way, and then who knows what would happen? I wouldn't fire him because the team lost on a buzzer beater and I feel like had Texas won this game, his job would be safe.

Exactly. He shouldn't be fired. Yes, the season ended in disappointing fashion, but there was plenty of hope for next season and the year after to be seen here.

I went 7-9 today. Lost two Sweet Sixteen teams (G'Town and Vandy). All of Elite Eight is still intact.
