    Re: 2013 Recruiting Thread

Troy Williams was supposed to announced today but postponed this morning. I don't know if that helps or hurts Ol Roy.

Coach Cal just had to call last night and get him thinking again lol

This recruitment is a bit puzzling to me. I don't think UK gets Parker (don't think he likes the fish bowl you live in there) but we have an excellent shot at Wiggins (if he reclassifies to 2013). Plus pretty much everyone believes Williams will go to unc. I don't know, maybe Cal made a late push for him.

I put UK's chances on Parker at 50-50. Several reasons:

-Parker will likely be a spring/summer decision-edge UK & Duke

-Calipari has an impeccable Ultra-Blue Chip recruiting history in Illinois

-Cal has an influential entourage especially in Chicago.

-He's wants to be a sure one & done, UK is a no-brainer.

-UK will strive for at least 2 all-star committments before spring so as to have players around the McD's, JBC, and NHS dropping recruiting pitches to the remaining uncommited targets.

-Of Parkers current list, which is a lot, I see Duke, UK, OHst, UNC and maybe KU as having legit chances, of those UK and Duke.

In the end, UK's chances depend on the other targets. If Randle, Walker, and/or Williams decisions are drawn out then UK's efforts will be diverted ala Noel, Bennett, and Shabazz. If they get taken off the board prior to Parkers decision allowing Calipari to go all out til the Bell rings. I think Cal converts on Parker.

Only thing you are forgetting is that Parker does not enjoy being in the limelight. MKG didn't either but he has known Cal since he was a child. He had always wanted to play for him. But I think this could be a deal breaker for him. I would love to have him and hope I'm wrong though.

Also don't forget, A) he truly is a one and done regardless of school choice and B) there are absolutely other elite coaches at elite schools that can have a chance at an NC with him and aren't in a fishbowl.

As much as 10mil as an NBA lottery pick can get you wanting the limelight and your going to get the limelight anyway. Cal would explain this in a way that only Cal can. Besides, College fame is earned ala Davis, not a given ala Selby. How many #1 recruits in the last 10 years went to lower profile school? Parker has plenty of time to weight the options, just as Rivers did, Still think Duke is his leader though, but don't see him going to a non championship contending team. One and done's seem to be choosing a school where they can win the title the first year out. Duke, UK, and a handful of others fit that bill.

I agree on all counts. But the fact remains, he can do all of that without going to UK. I never count Cal out, I'm just saying that if true that he doesn't like the mega attention, then UK won't be his destination. Not everyone can play at UK and I mean that from a limelight standpoint not talent.

Bennett has dealt Billy Donovan a devastating blow. Odd how Bennett left Oregon on the list but eliminated Florida. This would indicate that Oregon has a really good chance.

Bennett won't be going to UK, that we know for sure. UNLV is probably a given now, though it would be refreshing to see Oregon

Pete Thamel's 4th consecutive annual story on Kentucky in an attempt to bring them down.. Seriously, 4 years in a row (Bledsoe, Kanter, Davis, Noel) he tries to come up with a story and it's nice to know that the NYT is paying him to go to all these places that to investigate.. They even sent him to Turkey.. It's downright pathetic that this douche's sole purpose in life is to try to ruin the lives and names of 17 year olds. I can't remember exactly the specifics, but Thamel tried to bring Eric Bledsoe down for his high school coach possibly letting him live with him in an apartment when he had been living out of a car the past few years.. It's pathetic...

Noel has something like a 3.6 GPA. The word is that it is something to do with Noel's "Advisors" one related to Providence, the other a substitute teacher at Tilton HS.

The not-so-odd thing is that Thamel is notorious cuse fane whom only started putting his energy in his NYT story when Noel chose UK over Cuse. Even Georgetown has now came out suggesting that Thamel has a history of trying to intimidate recruits away from any recruiting competitor Syracuse has or season opponent Cuse may face in the Big East.

The article below is pretty cool on why kids are going to Indiana now and not Purdue.
I know this kid is a highly touted kid for the 2015 class but we dont have a 2015 recruiting thread yet. He basically says the facilties are like night and day between IU and Purdue. Its amazing how IU is getting most everyone they want from Indiana now and were not the last few years. They have 4 coming in this year and have verbals for 3 or 4 for each of the next few years.
