MAC Tournament(I have a reason for this..)

So the MAC tournament is underway. Two things to note here, 4-25 Northern Illinois won their first game. They upset Eastern Michigan who went 9-7 in conference.

Second thing to note here is the format of their tournament.

First Round(Campus Sites)

(12)Northern Illinois @ (5)Eastern Michigan
(9)Ball State @ (8)Western Michigan
(10)Miami @ (7) Toledo
(11)Central Michigan @ (6)Bowling Green

Second Round(Quicken Loans Arena)

(12)Northern Illinois vs (8)Western Michigan
11)Central Michigan vs (7)Toledo

Quarterfinals
Game 5 winner vs (4)Kent State
Game 6 winner vs (3)Ohio

Semi-Finals
Game 7 winner vs (1)Akron
Game 8 winner vs (2)Buffalo

Finals
Game 9 winner vs Game 10 winner



Such an odd format. The #5 through #12 seeds have to win 5 games to win the title. The #3 and #4 seeds have to win 3 games. The #1 and #2 seeds have to win just 2 games.

The MAC rewards the regular season greatly come conference tourney time. I like it but wow, 2/3 of the conference has a hell of a task in front of them come tourney time.

Pretty amazing that Northern Illinois won lol.

On a sidenote, my boy Javon McCrea plays for Buffalo. He was an absolute monster in high school. My first game of my high school career came against his school.

That's new this year... it's similar to the big east now I suppose, but the Big East is 4 schools larger so it works out. This is just plain weird for a 12-school league.

Anyways... I'm originally from Kalamazoo, so Go Broncos! Three more to go.

My buddy plays golf for Northern Illinois. I figure he was ecstatic after the Huskies won (not that the win matters).
