wow exhibition over D2 games with a purpose?? You could have just let the thread die!!

I would rather watch Indiana play a exhibition game than Indianapolis play Ferris State or any other D2 basketball. I follow Indiana and D1 basketball. I don't have a problem with D2. Heck, I attend a couple D3 games when I have the time just to see basketball but in end Indiana playing anyone other than a intrasquad game is more important to me.

True, but exhibition games don't show a team's true colors.

I'd rather watch my team play even if its a exhibition game against high school girls team or something. I cant even think of a D2 team in Illinois......

Michigan beat a "gritty" Michigan Tech team by about 12. They were playing without Graham Brown, Bernard Robinson Jr, and Brent Petway though. Plus this time last year they'd prolly have lost by 12.

Re: If you really need your college basketball fix.....

There was talk here in Wisconsin about allowing the D1 schools to play the state schools (UW-Whitewater, UW-Platteville, etc.) which are D3 for exhibition games. Those would be some very interesting games, and some D3 schools could actually compete.

I remember back when Bo Ryan was at UW-Platteville in the '90s and winning NCAA titles that he would play some D2 and D1 schools and beat them. I went to D3 UW-Platteville and the energy in those games was great just because you were so close to the action.

On the talk of exhibition games: I went to the Badgers game against EA Sports last night in Madison and the Badgers won 103-81 with 1 starter hurt, 2 bench guys in street clothes due to injuries, and the McD AA Brian Butch sitting due to not determining redshirt status yet. EA shot a TON of 3s, but UW looked good defensively and very patient offensively (and still scored 103).

I can't wait until the Big Ten season starts. Gotta defend the title again!!!

Yeah, I attend some UW-Oshkosh games and they are D3 and they are decent. Last year they made it to the D3 Elite Eight and lost to the team that ended up winning it all. I doubt they could beat any D1 teams but they could probably give some of them a good game.

Also, these exhibition games are becoming better games. Most of the traveling teams schools play have former college players who have college experience and even some Pro experience. The team Indiana just played had Ryan Sears who played at Creigton and Joe Crispin who had a decent career at Penn St. If it wasn't for the insane amount of games they play in a short period of time (AIA play like 15 games in about a 3 week period) they would probably benefit the big schools more than playing other small D1 schools (other than the fact it is usually a easy win).
