I'm plus/minus on Dakich in general, but I'm so glad that someone in the media finally publicly called out Ted Valentine for being the complete, unvarnished, unabashed, insufferable piece of excrement that he is. The man is human garbage, and the worst referee in the sport by a wide, wide margin.
As someone else pointed out, B1G fans have had to deal with this POS for a long time now (going back decades...), and it's surprising to me that he hasn't been shoved/punched/head-butted already - and I mean that in all seriousness. The guy has a history of talking trash to coaches, fans, players (players!!!), having terrible judgment in general, and having an even worse eye for the game and what's transpiring on the court, which he tries to hide by over-excitedly and comically exaggeratedly making his calls, wildly gesticulating as if to assert his "right"-ness in the dispute. Which is all the more irritating since he's so frequently and demonstrably wrong.
I can't understand how a guy like this stays in the sport for so long. He must have a formal complaint list a mile long, from basically everyone who's ever had the misfortune of sharing a court with him. Even his fellow refs must secretly hate his guts. In general, like most people, I don't pay attention to who is ref'ing a game, but you know when it's Ted Valentine, and you prepare yourself for a disaster, which is most assuredly coming.
Ted Valentine....frequently wrong, but never in doubt. Oh, and the biggest a**hole in college basketball.
