I realize this will be an uncommon opinion, but that foul was called correctly. The defender didn't make a basketball play. When you need to foul, you can't just find the ball handler and shove him with 2 hands. Sure, it was weak, but the right call. It's different than the NBA.

Edit: I missed the travel call, was on the phone with my dad.

Yes, college I believe is different than the NBA in that regard. Still ticky tack to call it imo.

He definitely lifted his pivot foot, but if traveling was always called that closely there would be at least 10 more travel calls in any given game.

Also, I don't get the argument that there's no play in the ball. Like the announcer was saying, there has never been an intentional foul at the end of the game where the player goes for the ball. That's why it's called an intentional foul. Going for the ball isn't the point. By this standard every intentional foul should be a flagrant one.

So you are saying you think it's a good idea to be able to intentionally foul by shoving the guy with both hands? Intentional foul does not mean making blatant and unnecessary contact with the ball handler. There has to be a line drawn, and the foul crossed the line, although just barely. It's in the rules.

Yeah I agree, and I get why people are upset. But, rules are rules. You can't officiate differently just because it's a close game.

Intentional foul does not mean making blatant and unnecessary contact with the ball handler. There has to be a line drawn, and the foul crossed the line, although just barely. It's in the rules.

It's basketball. Hard contact is part of the game. It's unrealistic o expect a player to foul lightly when literally every second is precious. You have to get to the guy, and get the foul. These are elite athletes going full speed in a high pressure situation. He wouldn't have even fell if it wasn't for the incidental trip. That's not a flagrant.

If that's the right call, then all intentional fouls are flagrant ones.

Edit: I don't see the big deal with the shove. You take away the trip and that foul is indiscernable from most intentional fouls

I officiate youth/rec games too so while I understand why the call was reversed, it is a bad rule that often goes ignored. How many times have you seen that called throughout the course of the seaon? Why do you think the officials called a common foul on the court (and only reviewed it because of the trip which is supposed to be incidental)?

Whether it's a bad call or bad rule, something like that should never decide a postseason game.

Traveling yeesh, lots of players not handling crunch time well this year.

This has been par for the course for a few years now. Panic city at the end of games all the time.

Terrible last possession by SMU. Have 3 missed picks so far. Now one of this missed picks was a Final Four team . Need Wiscy to beat Nova and should be back in it.

Migraine headache put me out for the early games. Looks like I missed a defense optional game between Michigan and Okie State, SMU crapped the bed, and Seton Hall had a rough go.

Only two misses today so far and right now, the 2 games going on are looking safe as well.
