Re: UConn returning to the Big East
No one cares about this except the hundreds of remaining UConn football fans, but this move is now looking pretty good for football. They released 9 of the 12 games next year and its a more interesting schedule than we've been playing since joining the american. More p5 games, 7 home games instead of 6, trip to ole miss, more regional games, and one of the non announced games has been confirmed to be an acc opponent. And this was a schedule they pulled out of their *** last minute. Future schedules are going to be better.
Baby steps, still one of the worst teams in fbs, still not a lot of reasons to be optimistic about turning the team around any time soon, but its something.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

The next few years will be big money losers for football, but there is hope basketball can help offset the losses. If anything, it may create "job security" for the football staff (and other sports) because the school won't be able to afford the buyouts if they are fired.Comment

Re: UConn returning to the Big East
Based on the payouts so far, the school is scheduled to lose over $350,000 with this schedule. The school is collecting $0 when they go to Ole Miss, but they get the benefit of hosting Middle Tennessee and paying them $0. (The $1.5 million will be paid by Ole Miss to Middle Tennessee.)

Yea but this is just for the first year when they had to take whatever games they could get and they had to convince schools to break up their already made schedules to play uconn instead. Based on games announced for future years they should be able to get buy games with some big programs, and home and homes with mid-lower tier p5 schools and regional teams. Also we still have to see that type of tv deal they can pull off.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment
