I haven't played for over a month and came back yesterday. The gameplay changed a lot and default All Star difficulty is broken imo. I tried messing around with the sliders for a few hours and gave up. Which is very sad, I enjoyed 2k26 until now and thought it was the best game they released for a long time. Now it's back to the usual NBA 2k frustrating experience that it has always been.

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
i knew i wasn't crazy. This is what i don't like about the patches. There underlining issues which ban aid some things but appear to cause issues with the core game play. On All Star the game played fair and the CPU AI appearred to played a more balanced game and not flawless. Now if you dont play perfect on both ends youll find yourself down big points at the blink of an eye.

The game has felt the same since 2k22. At this point they just stick it in the copier and send it out with a new cover smh.Comment

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
I don’t know if it was like this from the beginning or recently messed up via patch, but the ACE substitutions aren’t working correctly. They’re doing 5 man substitutions and not keeping a scorer in the game, or they’ll have players in the game that are playing out of position. While it wasn’t perfect last year, it worked well for what it was. Now it’s broken.Comment

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
After playing on console for years, I was excited to finally play on PC mainly for crowd lighting mods, since 2K always makes the arenas look so dark.
However, before even installing any mods, I noticed that the on-court player animations were running at what looked like 30 FPS. It was extremely choppy; the players moved as if they were running at a significantly lower framerate than the 120 FPS lock I had set.
I’ve seen almost no mentions of this ugly issue on this forum or anywhere else, but luckily I was able to get a refund. I even tried locking the game to 60 FPS (assuming that's what consoles run at), but the issue persisted.
It seems like this probably won't get fixed since apparently no one else on PC is having this problem even though I’m running an RTX 5090 and a 9800X3D.

Did you have reflex on? Sometimes choppiness derives from that.

This game is selling 25% more copies this year
Because of no RNG alone lol
Mike please don't put RNG back in the future titles
Rng took the soul (fun) out of NBA 2kComment

RNG = Random Number Generator. That's how shooting was. you could not green shots and there's a chance they'd go in. Or green wide opens and still miss.
tbh .... i hate the current shooting. it's ridonks guys can be shooting 75% on 3's and think it's fun. it's not fun to watch, it's not fun to be on their team, and if you're playing an online league - it's total unrealistic ***.
RNG had it's problems. but this green or no dice is the opposite end extreme. imo we need a middle ground somewhere.

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
I love the old shooting, that's why I've been playing a lot of 2K15. Seeing non-greens go in is beautiful! And when you finally get a green it feels special.
Not to mention that ball-rim-backboard physics were more varied in the older games. Some interactions that you don't even see in the newer games anymore.Last edited by youvalss; 04-02-2026, 01:30 PM.My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
Well I think I am about to give up on this game. It's so geared to online, which in a sense is fine, but unfortunately they have done so little for the offline player. I cannot find the right sliders to get the game to play how I want it to.
I honestly don't care that the base game is 100% geared towards online but here's the thing. Online/Park/Rec people aren't messing with sliders so why don't they make them actually work stronger than they do or make something like a multiplier that adjusts the affects of the sliders.
Reason 1: Fouls: Even with everything at 100 this game refuses to call fouls. Even when the animation plays it won't call fouls. I have tried so many different combinations of sliders to get something called and nothing works. For what reason do they make it that there isn't something that can be done when offline to get more fouls called. This blows my mind. If they had the multiplier and I jacked that it shouldn't matter if I get 60 FT's a game. Let me set it up how I want. I can get to the line a little but trying to get the CPU to the line is like finding a golden unicorn slider that works.
Reason 2: I think because the game is so geared to online the base settings are so skewed to stick skills that they don't know how to get it right for guys who want to play a simulation of basketball. I cannot get settings that make team differentiation matter. I will win 90% of my games on one setting. I try to adjust it and now I can't win regardless of who the team is. I always test my sliders by playing other games in MyNBA and taking a random team. On Pro I win almost every time. On All-Star I lose every time. The CPU shoots either 60%+ so I adjust sliders and then they shoot 30%. And there is very little variety. If I play the same teams it becomes the same game every time.
Reason 3: Shooting - Again I get it for online they wanted to take away RNG so it was all about stick skills. Fine but it's not adjusted at all for offline. I prefer Real Player but I've run into the issue that I know there are certain shots that will never go in because they are considered contested. And as mentioned above I can't lock in sliders that give any variation. I have tried meter shooting this year and the problem is with certain guys I get the shooting down and I almost cannot miss. Quentin Grimes is lights out. I had a game the other night where i shot 15-17 from three and am shooting 70% on my season. Meanwhile if I can't get the timing down for a player like say Kelly Oubre I am shooting 20% from three.
Reason 4: Animations: Some of these animations looks great I will admit. If they are fast. But some of these dribble animations are so long they make me go about 5-10 feet farther than I want. It's like playing a fighting game with all the combos you need to remember to do any moves as well.. I guess I am just too old and prefer the way it used to be where if I am controlling Kyrie Irving the CPU will contextually make the right move that fits the situation for that player. Again Online Players want that full control. This part has just passed me by. Beyond that when the game came out it seemed fine but now there are delays when I try and do things and then it's like it holds the button press in a queue so I end up trying to pass and it passes twice and I turn it over because one animation is taking so long.
Reason 5: CPU adjustments - Does the CPU actually adjust during the game to anything the players does. I am not sure on higher levels but on Pro they will not or at least very rarely guard a player in the corner. Quentin Grimes 15-17 and I was getting wide open threes in the corner because the Defender would not come out and guard me. They were giving me so much space. Even at the end of the game the last play I beat GS 130-129 on a buzzer beating 3 and the CPU defender did not guard Grimes in the corner. It's every team, they don't guard the corner for some reason.
Anyway, I get it. I am old and these games are passing me by. When these sports games first came out it's not like they were realistic but they were getting better every year both gameplay wise and graphics wise. But realistically the games don't look that much better than they did 10 years ago. I still play NBA 2k16 and some of the animations are just as good if not better than some of the stuff I see in this game. Yes, Player faces, bodies, lighting is better now by far. But the gameplay is not any better than it was back then and in many cases is worse.
I am just so frustrated with this game. I don't think that the devs are lazy, I won't ever say that. I just think that whoever makes these final calls just doesn't care about offline gamers because they don't spend extra money and that the Devs even if they care probably don't have the time to do anything about it. I mean that's what it feels like.
And the thing is the game looks great. It's fun in spurts when i think I have the sliders figured out. Then I try to play with different teams and it's like a copy/paste of of the previous game. I just want a game that I can lock in sliders that make it if I am playing with a good team I know that I will win most games but still have that random game where shots aren't dropping. etc and if I am playing with a poor team, I will still only win 30 games but I will have a game against a good team that I somehow pull of an upset then have another game where i just get killed. This game is not that and I can't get it there like i have been able to do with Madden and CFB 26. And I just can't get into going through rosters and adjusting ratings because now I messing with a whole different set of attributes that I have no idea how they affect the game.
It has not been fun this year. Just frustration.Last edited by cch99; 04-22-2026, 04:15 PM.👍 6Comment

Everything you said was spot on brotha!
2k sold their soul to the online crowd $$$$$$
And neglected the offline players
The CPU doesn't adapt they just call blind timeouts
Next Gen has been disappointing compared to PS4 era👍 2Comment

Re: NBA 2K26 Impressions Thread
I think it started out promising this year. But as the updates came out, less and less were focused on the offline part of the game. It’s crazy because they made some small changes that helped MyNBA and put in some of the new rules and injury fix that we’ve been asking for years, but the gameplay work that had been done has gone backwards the last 2 years. I thought other than lack of fouls, gameplay was great at launch.
I have a decent slider set now so I’m kind of happy with it, but it’s not as solid as it was at launch or even 2 years ago. I thought 2k25 was way too easy and predictable and 2k26 was more of a challenge. But they need to give us the options back to change all of the coaching strategies in the main menu. Otherwise every team pretty much plays the same.👍 1Comment
