The invisible brick wall to bandaid the defense
And don't get me started on the Ben Simmons drive N kick every other possession smh
The Ai took 3 steps backwards from compared to 2k25
I don't even think it's bugs it was done on purpose but if you read the Courside report
The Ai was supposed to be better
And 2k said they're monitoring gameplay
Looking past the issues I just mentioned about 🙄

The Ben Simmons issue is a spreadsheet problem. In the tendency section in the roster creator, "Driving Layup" is missing. It shows up on player cards and in the individual player editor, so it's surely a bug. But until that's handled, everyone's Driving Layup tendency is 0.

Surely something got wrong with IA, 99% actions are drive and kick at the shooter in the corner very predictable and monotonous. Player doesn't shoot when he get an open lane.

What’s funny is if you go and use the WNBA teams, they play completely different and the gameplay is actually much better-realistic looking. I think they’ll slightly slow down the NBA gameplay and get the coach AI right soon. The game doesn’t actually release until Friday so I’d think we’ll see it by then.

The help defense and rotations are much better, so that part they got right. The brick wall force isn’t as bad as it was though because at least they have animations that blend it. I’d rather have it not be so easy to get past defenders like it was last year. I just wish they would slow the pace down a little. Should be between last year and this year.

Big issue right now. We have found a way to negate this within our roster with editing. Gameplay for AI is so strange this year. Taking lots of editing and testing.

Already got the speed at a good pace on our roster editing so far. Game out of the box was so glitchy fast. Recommend game speed 34 (yes 34 lol) with roster editing. Right now we have only edited Lakers/Magic .

There are two things I noticed that seem like they aren’t setup right.

1) In Coach Settings from the main menu, Freelance Series Order is set to Static by default. I thought this was Dynamic by default last year.

2) If you go into Offensive Settings, while every coach is set to Auto (which I believe was always he default), under Freelance there are two new options. The first is “Comp” which says “Best For: Highly competitive users who want to create their own actions” and the second which seems to be the issue here is “Drive and Kick” which says “Best For: Designed for use by the AI” and the Negatives state “AI teams only”.

They also have a WNBA 3 Out Active, which makes sense why the WNBA part feels different.

Now when I change to dynamic, it’s not always seeing the drive and kick, but clearly drive and kick is the default so if it’s on static, that is all the AI is doing. They need to fix that for offline though by just updating the coach profiles. Not sure why we can’t edit it in the main menu coach or roster settings.

Everyone go play against Derrick Rose and watch how repetitive he drive and kick
It's so annoying and predictable
And I noticed the CPU hardly get foul calls even cranked up because they hardly drive tinto the paint to shoot only to pass
I can't believe the AI is worse than 2k25🤦

The game is available to play. It's fair for people to judge and be critical. People are paying extra money to play the game early. They should be upset when there are issues and aspects of the game the have gotten worse.

Edit: instead of asking people to pay $30 extra for early access to a game that has issues, they should just have a beta period for players to test the game so it's in a better state at launch. They already treat 2K like it's an online game so follow the online games and do a beta test.

I never insinuated that people shouldn't be frustrated or critical......But people acting like the sky is falling because a major patch hasn't been released yet is just crazy to me......

The AI isn’t worse, it’s better. The issue is that the coach profiles just need to be updated. I just changed the freelance sets in a play now game for the CPU team and it wasn’t just drive and kick. It seems they added it in for the AI but didn’t setup having other freelance options for each coach.

Change the CPU freelance sets and also change the freelance type to dynamic and it plays much better.

As an update to this, I just played Eras Play now with Bulls/Knicks and they play completely different than the regular Play Now mode. The coaching is set to run plays from that era so the Bulls are running the triangle, the game pace slowed down, and it lines up with the difference between other eras and even the WNBA play now mode. So the ability to change it up is there, they just need to allow editing in menus for offensive game planning.
