2k did a great job portraying bad defenders

One the most simulation parts of a basketball game to me is requiring realistic lineups to be successful, and the trade off between playing offensively challenged players versus defensively challenged players.

2k did an excellent job making poor defenders hard to play. Although I may not agree with the ratings of a lot of players, the universally bad defenders get picked on all game. You try to hide them as best you can.

This makes the fact that anyone can shoot, and pass in this game even worth. Since poor defensive players are realistically portrayed, and bad offensive players are not. The game is biased for taller and better defenders.

You can hit threes with the Thompson twins, but you can’t play defense with Duncan Robinson.

I mean I don’t see that as a bad thing. Bad defenders should get exposed. I don’t think your complaint is a hard coded game issue. You answered on your own. 2K devs just need to invest more time into players that should play better defense through ratings, badges, and tendencies.

I think this post was mostly meant as a compliment not a complaint

It was a compliment. They did a good job making bad defenders bad. My complaint was about bad offensive players not being bad. They did a great job with bad defenders.

I don't mind the game favoring the offense. The NBA is definitely geared towards the offense/offensive players, but I do hope they make adjustments so that weaker offensive players aren't player way better than they should.

It shouldn't be easy to shoot with none-shooters/average shooters. Players who don't have a dribble drive game should struggle getting by defenders. Poor passers should struggle passing in traffic, when pressured, in drive and kick situations, etc.

It's ok if scoring and shooting is easy at times, especially with better scorers/shooters against weaker defenders, but it should be more difficult with average offensive players or players who special in specific offensive roles.
