Return of the almost live ball. HOF cpu tells no lies. Excellent patch

The HOF CPU will tell you everything wrong and right with the game. You will see all the cheese in the game, and all of the games best features. This new patch was excellent.

1, Live Ball- This is the closest 2k has gotten to having a live ball since 2k12. This is an excellent addition. There is no reason to speed the game up, and add all these twitchy dribble moves if you are not going to make the ball live. You can no longer just spam moves, and dribble the ball into your defender. The best gameplay patch in years. The HOF cpu used to just spam dribble moves into the defender until they could slide or squeak by. Now that the ball is quasi live the HOF CPU doesn’t spam dribble moves as much.

    2. Drifting/Moving jumpers. Moving shots where the offensive player is running parallel or away from the rim have been nerfed. The HOF cpu now will stop and pop. Before the patch, the CPU would shoot moving/drifting threes with anyone. Now they have to stop to shoot with most of the players, and this limits pnr effectiveness to guys who can score off the dribble. Great patch.

    3. Speed- The player speed seems to have been adjusted for slower players, and I am seeing much more speed difference between slow and fast players. Great patch.

I am still not a fan of how easy shooting and passing is in this game. Yet, this recent patch is a great improvement and makes the game much better than it was.

Absolutely embarrassing that they already reverted back. More confirmation that they cater to the vocal online crowd.

Right now, 2K as signaled that they care more about making a basketball game that satisfies the online community than making a great, sim basketball game.

The frustrating thing is that it doesn't have to be a one or the other situation. They could simply just introduced Game Styles with profiles tailored for either a more realistic sim game or a "completive" option built around what the online community prefers.

It's not much different than restaurants having options for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters. 2K has basically decided that they want their "restaurant" to cater one of those groups of people instead allowing for options that will satisfy anyone who walks into the "restaurant."

Who said it’s reverted back? I played last night and saw a ton of steals. I had a bunch myself when the guy I was guarding dribbled into me and my steal rating isn’t that high.

I may be done with 2k as a franchise at this point. It is just like Madden to me. They switched the ball physics in 1 day, because people wanted to escape dribble back and forth through people. Didn’t even give them 1 month to adjust. If this is going to be a social media Fortnite game as opposed to a basketball game, they should just remove the NBA from their title.

I usually try to be positive, but this is a bad look all around.

Hey Rob they even reverted the game speed for slower players. That’s a result of most my players being either 6’8 or 7’4, that changed resulted in an outcry.

2 days simply isn’t enough to gather data or allow the community to adjust to recent changes. From what I’ve seen online most people don’t agree with this patch yet they claim they worked off community feedback lol. A select few streamers got the ears of the devs this year and everyone is along for the ride

What’s worse is they reverted rhythm shooting my in less than 24 hours. Reason being is certain streamers didn’t like the hitch which came from delaying your shot. This was an intended feature at launch. Certain people didn’t return from work before they made that decision.

I truly hate everything about online gaming. I really hope one day the full online gaming dies.

I just hate when it impacts the single player experience. The online community has the most influence over the game and it's BS. Even if the developers want to create a realistic sim experience they'll make changes to cater to a community that doesn't care about or understand actual basketball.

Exactly. Changes like this should be viewed like an experiment. It takes time to get accurate data and analysis. They purposely took their time releasing this patch because they wanted to gather feedback and data. They should have done the same thing with this patch.

I keep comparing the different type of 2K gamers to street/pick-up ball players and structured/organized ball players (AAU, highschool, college, NBA, etc). The reaction to the ball being more live is like a street baller playing organized basketball for the first time and being frustrated about the calls (fouls, double dribbles, travel, etc), the slower more structured pace, that teams aren't going to play 1-on-1 D the entire game, etc. Unfortunately, 2K is caving and changing the game based on their input instead of, basically, telling these players to change up their style and play smarter ball.

I keep saying it and I'm going to keep on saying it until it's implemented, 2K NEEDS an option for Game Styles/Profiles. Make a Competitive option that caters to the online gamers (Green or Miss, more dribbling freedom, faster pace, etc). And a Sim option for those of us who want to play a more realistic, strategic style of basketball. There is no way to satisfy both portions of the fanbase by making features more or less universal across every game mode.

It all stems back to the decision of making Green or Miss a feature across all modes on All-star and up. That was a decision influenced by a specific portion of the community that impacts the entire player base. There's absolutely NO REASON why that couldn't be optional.

Online gaming isn’t going anywhere and if anything, it’s going to be the overall future of gaming. That being said, a lot of online gamers were happy with the patch changes because it rewarded people who play real basketball.

Most people don’t play online here, but to sum it up there’s really two types of online players:

The Park users: all stupid arcade style play, lots of street ball or 1-on-1.
All other online modes (like Rec, Pro-Am, and the Theater): these are online players who want to play online but want a more realistic brand of basketball and were happy with the patch. I don’t know what the break up is, but all of the rec style players I’ve come across loved the patch and anyone from park mode that would come into theater or rec would get owned for lack of basketball IQ.

I’d be fine if the tweak was in between the last two patches for steals, but it seems like they listen to the park folks a bit too much instead of the other modes.

This didn't age well, and it's killing the game. Thanks for the none stop whining of creators.

To be fair. I played last night versus the Timberwolves and they had 16 turnovers in the first half. That is the most to's I have ever caused versus the CPU. The ball went through my body way to much on drives, but I am able to get steals sometimes when I guess right.

Patch 2.0 was damn near perfect, but this 2.1 is not as bad as things were on release.

So i will give them credit for not removing defense from the game.

it's not necessarily online gaming, it's social media, stream culture, influencer culture, content creators (GAG), etc

when everyone has a voice, it's the most vocal (and those with the most "followers") that get the most attention - social media was a massive, incredibly toxic mistake

but yea like scottyp180 said - it does not have to be either or, just make an online mode for the fortnite generation

sports video games will never truly innovate/progress because the vocal majority do not want it - no matter what they say, in the end they just want to be able to win online games every year the exact same way they've always done and if they can't, they squeal from the rooftops because winning online games is all they have in this world

sports video game devs aren't the problem, it's the gamers
