I could live with the story and cutscenes, if we actually had to make decisions that affected the story.

Right now, our games are being scripted because we have to follow the story. It's completely backwards and takes away the point of the whole mode.

Agreed. I just hope that 2k doesn't invest considerable time towards something like "branching storylines/events" when they could channel that energy into more on-the-court related areas. I'll take smarter teammates over a "story" anyday.

Not saying that it has to be one or the other, but for years now we've been forced to play an excess of garbage minutes without the inability to wear alternate unis or simulate any game of our choosing. Those cutscenes are almost like attempting to put a band-aid over a stitch wound.

Like a lot of others in this thread. I'm pretty close to being absolutely fed up with this game mode. MyGM is a mess, and this is looking like it too, and I never was a MyTeam guy so other than NBA Today, and quick games online, I'm not sure I'm going to use this game for anything.

I just had the sidekick thing come up with Derrick Favors against the Bucks, so I was asked to feed him the ball all game. I did, got him 41 points on 30 shots when his previous career high was 27 (The rest of the team had 41 points total). The game was tied at the time, I get subbed out, and when I get subbed back in the fourth quarter, we are down by 15 and I am asked to bring us back into the game.
Cue Trey Burke chucking contested threes for no apparent reason, me missing every wide open shot I have, Favors/Kanter missing every shot they have because they're tired and the coach refuses to sub either out. And on top of that, Ekpe Udoh of all people goes on a 10-0 run by himself, Carlos Delfino's being left open by Hayward on every play and we're now down 25 and I'm STILL being asked to cut it down to 5.

Needless to say, we end up losing by 20-30 and Favors is jumping around like a child after the game so happy he got his 40 points and doesn't even mention that we got blown out by the lowly Bucks.

So I ask, what is the point of MyCareer if you're forced to play 2k's career? I want the game to adapt to how I play, I shouldn't have to adapt to how 2k wants me to play. And why does 2k want you to lose/fail when you do everything they ask you to? Isn't a 11-25 record bad enough? At least give me a chance to make the playoffs.

So glad i'm not the only one getting pissed off at this scripted crap. When they advertised MyCareer they made it seem like a story that you had control of. You hardly do.

I had the instance that someone else mentioned (bring the team back) and was able to do it. It doesn't matter, you get mad praise from the coach and team and they say you get more minutes... you don't. Furthermore the scripted crap despite all of your points etc dropped won't make you a starter till like the 30+ game in.

Oh and with the sidekick thing, I said no. This feature more than anything bothers the hell out of me. Anytime you oppose being a background, role player and wanting to be a star it gives you some insane task. Now, I can do the task if the damn game did not intentionally make you do bad. You'll miss wide open shots, randomly have the ball swiped from you by a big man (not holding it long either), etc. This stuff is far too scripted. Cool idea though.

For those struggling with the "cut the lead to 5/10" goal try this strategy, cause it helps me. I'm a pg.

First, as soon as you get the goal, at your very next opportunity call a timeout. The computer will go on a immediate run and this helps break their momentum early.

Second, I started to notice that the "points of emphasis" would say to let "nothing inside"...of course the computer wouldn't attack the middle during their run...it would bomb me from 3. So what I started doing (since I can't change the points of emphasis) was to call a full court press.

This causes your teammates to push up and pressure their man. So each shot gets contested.

These 2 strategies have helped me NOT get blown out when that stupid goal pops up and has also allowed me to accomplish it much faster than when I didn't use it

Everything is far too slow, I just want to play games not have to sit through scripted unskippable cut scenes. Defiantly one step forward two steps back with regards to this game mode.

I'm not having the trouble y'all are. I enjoy the cutscenes and story. I've gotten the bring us back goal and the superstar goal a few times (only completed the latter once) I guess I've just been lucky as the Celctics have been 15-2 since I was traded there as an 84 overall. I have seen a lot of sketchy stuff, but nothing over the top. Probably the worst was coming out of a game we were winning by 20 and 3 minutes later when I get back in, down 15 to my rivals team.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but rebounding for big men needs some serious love in this game. I finished a mycareer game with my 6'7" small forward who grabbed 15 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. My 7' rebounding specialist center (maxed rebounds, vertical, strength and rank 3 tenacious rebounder) averages about 7 rebounds per game.

It's frustrating in-game, but then you get the stupid social media taunts after the game for not getting a double-double.

Just encounter my first BS game. I'm with the Portland and we are facing the pacers and my team was winning by 21 at the half. When i wanted to sim to my next appearance, it put in the 4th quarter with the Pacers winning by 22. When i check how they came back, the box score showed how they outscore us 37 to 5. Freaking 37 points to our 5 in the 3rd.

after getting all hyped to stick with my current agent, either i selected the wrong choice or it was bugged (probably my mistake). so i signed with the super powered agent. hahaha. daaaaammn. i was originally going to do that but after hearing about signing with nike (plus the friend i liked) i figured i'd tough it out.

I have had a few of these as well. I am curious about something. I was drafted by the Jazz and played 15 or so games with them and asked to be traded and got traded to the Mavs. Everytime I entered a game while I was with the Jazz, we would be losing. Now that I am on the Mavs the same thing is happening. The Mavs didn't give away any starters to get me so they have a pretty solid team but it frustrating to come into every game down double digits. And when we do come back while I am in the game, we always lose the lead and get behind by double digits again while I am on the bench. Can someone that got drafted by a good team tell me if this is happening to you as well?

i get to this cutscene where Al Jefferson is mad i didn't give him the ball (when i'm a starter) and the coach left me out the whole 4th quarter except the final 6 seconds and i missed the final shot when we were down by 1. every time he touches my guy 'thud' it crashes.

I have about 6 Games left for the season and no shoe deal yet...
