Playing Golden state. Low & behold, klay Thompson runs right through Bogut & Speights screens as they close the door on my defender (Wesley Matthews) thus ending the game 103-101. Well played.
Re: I just got the 'ol "elevator doors" trick
Yes!!! Thats awesome, I love that we can run that effectively in this game now. The elevator doors works so perfectly for Golden State too with such deadly shooters. I thought it was hilarious though, I saw the Knicks run that play with Raymond Felton and Bargs and I think KMart and I was like wtf? Why are they even bothering running that for Felton whos like a career 33% 3 point shooter, and needless to say he bricked horribly. New York basketball is a mess this season lol.
"6. Running the elevator doors for Raymond Felton.
The "elevator doors" play is a pleasing little trick in which teams have a shooter sprint between two screeners, who close the space between them just as that shooter goes through — blocking his defender. Here is Phoenix last season running the play for Jared Dudley:
The Warriors run this for Stephen Curry on the wings, and Klay Thompson now and then at the top of the arc. The Sixers have run it once or twice this season for James Anderson. The Bobcats use it to free Kemba Walker on inbounds plays. Kyle Korver gets the treatment.
It's almost charming how the Knicks run it for Felton, as if he's a threatening shooter. He's a 33 percent career shooter from deep who's 7-of-34 this season, and worse yet, the Knicks often run it to produce an open long 2-pointer for him. Go Knicks!"
Re: I just got the 'ol "elevator doors" trick
It'll be fun trying to counteract this play if i can peg it. I was so shocked that they ran it in the game, that watching the replays i saw that i had Mo Williams not far away & probably could have at least contested the shot or fouled Klay before he got the shot off. None the less, it was pretty cool to see it in the game.
