Re: VC: The Real Problem and Alternatives

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said in this thread but as long as the games keep selling as much as they have been we're going to have to put up with VC and the completely transparent money-grab that it is. VC is the reason I only buy the 2K games on PC now. I'd much rather have less features and not have to put up with that VC crap. It's the reason I won't buy a copy on next-gen either until it's scrapped, which may never happen.

VC would be a great addition for those who doesn't have the time to "grind" VC, but because they are greedy, it's way too grindy to play for the VC. They should increase VC earnings by quite a bit and the problem would be better.

The best option would be just to remove it. As of now, if you're offline you can only play quick matches, because of VC.

There is no way in hell a basic headband or arm sleeve should be costing my player a good fraction of my yearly salary in VC. Someone tell me how that is anything BUT a shameless money grab. Remember in 2k11 I think it was when you were freely able to customize all of your accessories, even design your own shoes, and it didn't cost a dime?

I'm already a bit miffed with taking away stuff that used to be free, but this gouging of the cost/effort ratio seems plain disingenuous. I love your game so much 2k but I don't like this trend.

It's great to continue to speak out in any forum available, but it is more important to speak out with your wallet. I'm not purchasing another 2k basketball game into they start making SIM the aim in the my career. As it's the only mode I play. Between VC and this fairytale story line I'm out.

Both are important, and once you have the game there's not much else you can do but talk about the problems. My suggestion is that there's no need to boycott the game, just delay the purchase for a couple of weeks to a month. Most sales of a game come around the launch and after that you can find it used or for a discounted price.

This is farmville level. "Buy this or my morale goes down". Really guys?

Good to know. There's no way I'm going to pay 50K VC only to use it in a single save. What a joke. Considering you have to play minimum of 50 seasons where you have to succeed in making tons of money to get the VC back I can only scratch my head why they would do this. I guess all they see is dollar signs.

It's not a boycott really it's just I don't like what they are doing and I don't think it's worth my money since I'd never play it as currently being developed.

Complaining is great for future fear of lost sales, but nothing strikes fear in the hearts of companies greater than actually lost revenue. With places like OS and others nobody who really doesn't want to have to buy a game not knowing the major flaws.

Great points made in this topic. I think this "farmville" and whatever else microtransaction are here to stay until the majority don't buy the game for this reason. However with little competition in basketball I don't see this happening.

2K has proven to only take out things that hurts their development time by people not playing the mode or something that they don't get benefits from. They are making "easy" money with people purchasing VC but I don't see me ever purchasing a dime from it. I haven't even started a MyGM which is the only mode I really want to play for outdated rosters but implementing VC into that is just plain stupid as well.

VC is hands down the the most selfish, money-hungry, thoughtlessly inconsiderate idea I've ever witnessed in a video game.

I'd love to see MyCareer attibutes to be earned through XP or skill points in game or scheduled practice sessions. I'd love to see a progression system that completely mirrors MLBTS. Its ridiculous that we have to "buy" our skills AND our accessories while drawing from the same pond. Skills shouldn't be bought, they should be earned. I have no problem with implementing VC for material things like accessories and shoes, but it shouldn't take 10 games to be able to afford a headband. Period.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no place for VC in MyGM. VC really does not fit well here. Playing it, it just feels awkward and forced upon us. I keep having my HC come to me asking to buy a weight room, and he gets pissed because I don't. Not because I don't want to, but because I literally don't have the VC to. Let us upgrade our facilities with the Profit that we earn. MyGM skills should be earned through goals and challenges. Paying for the ability to set your rotation is probably the biggest face palm moment in video game history, honestly.

Okay, so I saved up some VC and today I bought a Silver pack. The player I get, Will Bynum. No offense Mr. Bynum, you would crush most of is at b'ball, but you are only avg 8pts per game and you just cost almost all my hard earned VC. I have better Bronze players. What the heck? Last Silver pack for me, just pure wrong. Should have gotten a Kimba Walker, Al Harrison, a good player, but no I get a Bronze at twice the price. 2K, you can do better than this!

I bought a silver pack and got Brandon Knight, and a couple of other crap cards. I decided I would save up each time and only buy Gold packs.

This, and every single thread related to VC, should be stickied and posted at the top of this thread for everyone to see. The best we as customers can do at this point is to NOT buy the VC, ever.

Everyone needs to go to 2K support and create a ticket. They need to hear from us all! I am planning to trade this back in for the current gen version, which I was enjoying with no real VC issues. The heck with better graphics if they just plan to rip us off. Thanks for posting the Reddit thread, nice to see more upror about this.
