If they found the time to add the story board to my player and add MyGM they had time to add the same features to next gen. This games isn't bare bones it's going in the wrong direction. It's illogical to think that 2K(or any company) would invest the resources to expand MyCareer and create MyGM just to go in a different direction the following year.

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
With respect, I am unsure as to whether your response adequately answers the questions posed. Do you feel 2K mis-led consumers through a lack of information? And do you believe there were aspects they were aware of for which they consciously avoided in hopes of roping in gamers who had no reason to assume wouldn't exist or properly function (example: create-a-player, local saves)?
If so, do you believe this is an effective and reliable long-term business strategy?
Maybe I am just a bit more paranoid than the average OS'er?Comment

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
That's just it; it didnt.
This 'new' engine felt remarkably similar to the old one, with all the same flaws.
Passing still feels like throwing a ball of fluff around.
Players still get caught in animation loops, and these animations still feel restrictive.
CPU cheese. Its hard coded in.
Players still just spaz around, court spacing is terrible.
Sliding is still there.
Players still run around the court with little understanding of basketball flow.
We did get Babboozled. Ronnie threw a few nice looking highlight vids at us, and we all got sucked in.
A few smart ones asked for gameplay; when we got the first mediocre Warriors/Heat vid people ran for the excuses.
Then when the myGM preview stuff came out, a few more of us pointed out this mode is utterly reliant on CPU roster management logic, something 2K has been terrible at.
This has been a marketing hatchet job.
Ronnie has earnt his paycheck.Comment

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
Oh they didnt have time to do this, or add that because its the first game on the new consoles but they sure as heck had time to add VC to every single mode of the game and when something with VC malfunctions, Im sure they are right on that to fix it. Having to use VC for the most straight up basic things, like setting rotations was added but they couldnt add anything worthwhile because its the first game on the One and PS4? Not buying it. Their priorities have changed and not for the betterment of their customers.
And what about the promotion of daily roster updates and tweaks? That was a blatant lie to everyone.
It doesnt take a genius to see where they are headed.Last edited by Steven78; 12-10-2013, 05:49 PM.Comment

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
Launch games for the 360 and PS3 were bare bones and for some sports games, it took 3 or 4 years to get all features and modes from the previous gen. I fully expected this generation to be the same, and I am still not sure why anyone would think any differently? Maybe too young for gaming during the last transition?
Maybe they were were bare-bones for some other game genre, but not for 2K basketball, imo.
There were plenty of features that got carried over from the previous gen, to the current gen.
Due to the console release dates:- 2K6 dropped for the 360 + PS2
- 2K7 dropped for the 360 + PS3
To some folks, NBA 2K6 was a straight port of 2K5.
They did not release some 'stripped down' version of the game when they made the jump to Current Gen 360/PS3 platforms.
In 2K6, the game had:
- Quick Games
- Association Mode
- 24/7 Mode (i.e. Old MyPlayer)
- Tournament, Season, and Street modes (i.e. Blacktop)

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
I wasn't expecting everything from CG to be in NG but I also wasn't expecting Create a Player to be basically taking out or local saves. NG lacking modes wouldn't sting as bad if you could equally enjoy the modes that are in the game.
As it stands now you lack modes, but it feels like you have even less because
A) You can't play and fully enjoy certain modes because you need to buy VC
B) You can't play a certain mode because it is heavily glitched or just not working at all.
These are things that kill this version of NBA 2k IMO, you going to go all out and build a new game with fewer options you NEED to make sure people can enjoy whats there.
I've said it before I wish I had waited before buying this game, needing VC to make rotations in MyGm, previously association a mode you totally changed makes no since.
Having trade AI totally screwed up and not allowing people to be able to handle these by not controlling all teams is a bad move. I've been a 2k supporter for a long time and personally I like the bad attention they are getting cause i'm hoping sooner rather than later things will change.
One thing Iknow now is I won't rush out and buy NBA 2k15 that's for sure.-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Did We Get Bamboozled?
At the end of the day, we shouldn't have to find features to find out their removal, and though it is a launch title, there's no excuse for having broken servers or 2 month outdated rosters for almost a month.
Legacy issues I can somewhat take, but removal and having the game more broken isn't right.
Some people on this board are really sensitive when it comes to constructive criticism, it's happened to all of us at one point, but everyone has to realize that if you can't see that people aren't happy with something and you can't understand where their coming from, just don't say anything.
I wish though that we had more info instead of screenshots back then, I remember having an argument with people when the net pic came up and look where we're at.
Questioning the direction of the series, Users complaining about server problems, users complaining about any problem.
Some say the gameplay overweighs the negatives, which can be true in some way, but when there's complaints around everything else being somehow broken, that's a big problem.
It's very easy to site legitimate negatives.

Myself, spank, a couple others in this thread have made our positions pretty clear in these pages and on this issue. Not defending 2K just to defend them, not being "sensitive to criticism" or anything like that. We've mentioned numerous times that people should be speaking out on some of these issues that do need to be addressed with this title. However some guys are going overboard with how they're going about things and that's not even counting the obvious 2K trolls that are littering the forums now who see their opportunity to throw stones at 2K in a mob. If you don't have anything to contribute to the thread but coming in here and not hearing both sides of the coin and throwing out labels on whoever doesn't agree with your side, then you should probably take your own advice and not say anything at all.Comment

I take offense to this statement. So if I don't agree with some sentiments made about this issue I shouldn't say anything? That's not a discussion and if it shows anybody's "sensitivity" it's yours that you think anybody that challenges your opinion should shut up.

Now, my problem with this statement, is that you're assuming that I'm throwing labels. "If you can't see that people aren't happy with something" doesn't necessarily mean the game. I've read the posts your not happy how people are acting. I see that. No one is happy.
I don't care if you think the game is good/bad, you're not happy with people's reaction to the game, which is fine. And people aren't happy with how the game is after hyping it for the longest time, which is also fine.

Come on man, spare me that line. I'm not assuming anything. You threw out a blanket statement about people on the board being sensitive about not being able to take constructive criticism. There are very few people in this thread "defending" 2K on this issue or speaking anything that goes somewhat against the general feelings in this thread. If you aren't speaking about any of those people then your post didn't even need to be in this thread since it's out of the context of what's being discussed here. Who cares about those people that can't take constructive criticism if the people in this thread are having a civilized discussion of both sides of the issue?
Well, while writing the post, I just thought of that, you can see that perhaps not the thread, but everywhere. I'm a writer who really jots down what he's thinking. Why would I say board instead of thread in the first place anyways?
The big picture is in that post, it's not that people in this thread has a problem, it's just the fanbase is divided on a lot of the situations we now have with 2K.
Examples:
-VC, should we have it or not? How should it be really implemented to be equal for everyone?
-the whole "MY" emphasis on these modes, are they really trying to push away from a NBA-simulation, like myTeam is a fantasy team, myCareer is now a WWE storyline, and myGM is just similar to The Simpsons: Tapped Out with having micro transactions (even if they are small,) to move on/progress. Hardcore fans as you see don't really necessarily like that, but everyone else on YouTube seem perfectly fine with it.

The manner with which complaints have mounted over time, I'm not sure 2K can afford to not change anything, even the WWE-influenced MyPlayer.Comment

Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?
I just got my ps4 and nba 2k14 last night. Started a MyPlayer. I never had an issue with vc on the ps3 for MyPlayer because it was never any different to me than just earning attribute points to spend to make your player better. But from what I've read about needing vc in my GM, well that sounds insanely messed up. I'll have to check it out this weekend when I've got more time, but I'm worried about it for sure. Damn shame they keep stripping control of the users when we should be given more control as the systems get more powerful.Comment
