This game is so underwhelming. Besides the graphics l really struggle to see any positive changes. No create a player, a weak association mode, VC implementation all over the place I really should have done my homework researching this game, but as someone who has owned every NBA2k game since 2K3, I really didn't think they'd ship a game this watered down. We really need Live to put pressure on these guys because their product is going down hill.

I agree with everything he said. I also don't think much will change. The developers and marketing people at 2k are happy with the direction. Which means they don't care what we have to say. Make the wishlist and watch about 90% of it get ignored because it's not apart of the marketing plan.

Well said, im here in australia and only got to play on the 26th nov, and my initial impressions was why isnt 2k getting **** on OS? Why is the gameplay being being praised when it is a step down from CG in a lot of ways? There wasnt enough backlash and it was 10 days after release

The gameplay had some iimprovements, but it is a step down in a lot of ways, help defense and rotations are broken, missing defensive settings, extra button press on calling quick plays on an extremely laggy menu, cpu cheese present in 2k12 etc...

Online req just to play the game? This is atrocious, 2k should get criticized a lot just for this, wow

I said it before but unfortunately 2k14 CG is a better overall package, no wonder 2k was quiet up until until release

that's because all ppl were looking at were the graphics same with the reviewers. I got the game on the 16th popped in and saw all the game play problems from current gen 2K14 still in the game from scrub PGs passing the ball to bigs in the paint like they are prime Nash, and the CPU doing those stupid under hand lay ups that go in most of the time.

This thread should be stuck. It pretty much sums up the feelings of the core of OS users in barely 40 posts. 2K devs should print it and use it as their bedside book while developing 2K15.

I doubt if they'll even read it, and if they do, they won't care. They made these decisions consciously.

There is no way they didn't know this would upset the majority of us. Some of them are such blatant decisions that totally disregard the gamer it's mind blowing.

Won't fool me again, no more day one purchase from me with this franchise. More of us should have listened to Vni instead of shunning him. He saw this coming a mile away.

The difference now is the MyPlayer simulation basketball environment has been eschewed in favor of a fantasy world where DeMarcus Cousins is a mime, rivals are made out of thin air, and the fictional currency with which you're paid is enough to buy an accessory or two per year.
Yes. I think 2K10 and 2K11's MyPlayer actually added more authenticity to the game with Summer League, Combine, and D-League. It was essentially a love letter to NBA nerds. The fact that they would release a pre-release teaser and name it the Combine showed how entrenched they were in making the most authentic and sim of games. It distinguished itself from Live that way. It got them where they are, and NBA authenticity through and through (including how Jordan was handled) is what put them over the top in 2K11.

MyPlayer unfortunately became a victim of both its own success and Live's failure. As 2K looked to monetize MyPlayer, it became dumbed down so that it could be accessible to more people and get them on the VC mill faster. Now I would disagree with you in whether the *type* of additions NG MyPlayer brought was good-- I like some immersion and story. I like social media elements.

However, I want that story to be entrenched in the actual NBA. I want my rival to be an actual NBA player, not one made up to be part of a story where NBA players are secondary characters. The MyPlayer experience should feel like a documentary-- more like the movie Linsanity than Teenwolf. More like The Association than Like Mike.

And the thing is, I think they can go in this authentic direction and not lose any fans, casual or hardcore. Basketball itself is engaging enough to casual fans that more authenticity in terms of narrative flavor will actually draw them in.

What would be great is if NBA 2K15 allowed real players as rivals-- perhaps some actual players would enjoy playing the part. It wouldn't even take much work. 2K could send them a questionnaire of what they would tweet or text in different situations, and your player could get that tweet when appropriate:

Have a game against Russell Westbrook? Get a text ACTUALLY written by him-- "comin for u bruh"? Amazing!

They failed to mention a few things to us before we all bought the game.

                      1. No CAP, at all..

                      2. No saving of rosters to your HDD

                      3. Once you create a save while being connected to the 2K servers, you HAVE to be connected at all times to use these saves.

                      4. VC being EVERYWHERE, not just in MyCareer or MyTeam. (Along with prices still being ridiculously high, in some cases even higher than CG)

                      5. We were promised a groundbreaking experience with MyGM. So far all we got is crazy high VC prices to do anything, the same flaws from CG, and some new gamebreaking bugs riddled through the mode, it's basically unplayable.

                      6. MyCareer is scripted beyond belief, for the first time in this mode it doesn't even feel like we're controlling our own character, we're just playing out a story. When the game wants your team to lose, or you to have a bad game, you're basically forced to play poorly to further the story. Not what we wanted, not how it should be.

                      7. Defensive settings removed for POE. We're still not 100% on how these actually work.

These are just a few of the multitude of issues, missing things, game breaking bugs in certain modes, etc. So, my question to you all is, do you feel like 2K played us all when they made the promises they did? Graphics are great, gameplay is good, but I feel like they lied to us when they promised a fully featured next gen title.

Just a few more from a fellow poster:

Only 1 roster save at a time as far as I can tell. I tried to save a second roster and it saved over my first one.
                      -no playoffs mode
                      -no multiplayer association
                      -terrible menu
-editing rosters- player roles edits dont "stick"- revert back to original
-editing sliders- several edits dont "stick"-have to be reset every time you play a quick game
-have to download your roster every time to play a quick game
-no custom roster under NBA Today
-no official roster updates yet- missing players-this is the one thing that will eventually get corrected?
-no options to turn off bad cpu ai for trades/player roles/fa signings
-rotations get reset by cpu in season mode for cpu teams-terrible rotation logic-still broken
I remember going back and forth with you in a few threads where I was saying how ridiculous it was that 2K has given us so little information about te game and game modes. There was a reason I was scared. I've learned over the years that when a company is withholding information it is usually for a reason.

To be fair, next gen core gameplay is fantastic.

Well with the exception of the removal of defensive settings. I still don't agree that POEs really replace them. I basically set one of a few POEs I always use and don't need to scheme player by player for each team. There's very little depth or engagement to it to pick one of 8-9 items and have the AI decide everything else for me without the ability to tweak.

That might be me this year. I've been trying to figure whether current gen might be worthy of a discount pickup. In all honesty, I've actually been going back to 2K12 lately and I'm in the process of seeing how realistic it might be to give College Hoops another shot, if I can figure out the new rosters.

Yeah I was one of the leaders of complaining about the lack of info and I was told to "be patient" they would release all the info that we needed. Now you understand why we need EA to put out a quality product or boycott 2k all together for a year to send a message. Again… I have tried to beat this into people's heads, if you hit them in their pockets and not buy the product they will listen to what we have to say instead of taking a dump in a box and tell us to enjoy that it's the "greatest game ever!"
