All of this sounds very confusing to me. Is there still a place for offline gamers just looking to have a full simulation basketball experience?

This question is the crux of the issue.
That is what the gamers are trying to figure out.

From what I can tell in this thread so far, the answer is..... Maybe.

Some can access certain features while offline. Some cannot.

This is WHY most folks despise the 'always on' DRM stuff.

Because the game is not the same across the board, for those who wish to play offline.

2k has a right to build these types of features into their game. But we consumers also have a right to know UPFRONT. If they intend to do so. (i.e. Before we turn on the game one day and it stops working if we ever disconnect from the internet, for any reason)

I'm getting so fed up with Ronnie.

The way he spins things around, gives them a twist. I'm going on a stretch but imagine if he said this:

Ronnie: We created the Virtual Currency and the "always online" feature so we, at 2K, could make sure you wouldn't be playing any online crew matches against 20 feet tall players. That's the sole reason why we implemented those measures. To protect you from people who are hacking the game.
I know there is a percentage that loves crew but it's probably something like 5-10%. No way 2K would spend so much attention on them.

They would have implemented those features regardless if people were hacking the game and abusing online. They want to make money, it's that easy.
