dont know what that website is...never heard of it but mad props.
game informer "sort of" called 2k out earlier today, but if IGN does it 2k's rep is going to get shot and EA is going to have a MASSIVE opportunity to become the #1 basketball franchise if they put out a mildly decent product next yearComment

Re: Kotaku now calling out 2K. This problem is now 'big'
The game was a great before the first patch that screwed everything up.
They need to undo all the patches, give us roster updates, then start patching over again without adding all the always online and VC BS.
Keep the skill points.Comment

So the VC and always having to be always online was not in the game.Comment

Re: Kotaku now calling out 2K. This problem is now 'big'
Let's be real too. The actual basketball in this game is on point and the graphics are dope so the areas they need to fix are things they should be able to handle. I think the core guys care enough to not let this debacle repeat next year. I'm willing to give them a chance with 2K15 if they address this thing during the build up.
I myself rarely play online in the first place because it is just too laggy and delayed for me. Especially since I'm an international player using a U.S server, there is usually about 0.5-1 second delay for me, hence it is so difficult to time the release of a jump shot, let alone play on-ball defense ...Comment

Pastapadre just gave them a smack around too:
NBA 2k14 Recovering From Devastating Weekend Server Problems
It would be difficult to cite another game that has stumbled so badly post-release as next-gen NBA 2K14. From the recognition that online connections are essentially required at all times, to the damaging VC system that has turned so many against the series on its own, the crashes preventing many from simply playing the game’s central modes, and even the more pronounced lag post-patch and new bugs introduced into MyGM – it’s been one thing after another and 2K has shown no signs of gaining their footing or compensating all those who have struggled to get out of the product what it promised.Comment

For those that don't know, I'd take anything Pastapadre says with a pound of salt. He's historically shown a bias against 2K sports games, so it's no surprise he'd play up any dissention as much as possible. I remember he tried to make a big deal out of OJ Simpson being on a team named the Assassins in All Pro Football, a game that already had a lot going against it without NFL licensing. I don't know if he changed his tune over the years as I lost interest in football gaming gradually after post-NCAA/NFL exclusivity, but as a long-time gamer it doesn't surprise me he's piling on the negativity bandwagon.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

With all due respect, when it comes to NBA 2k, you come across as far more biased to me than anything I've ever seen from Pastapadre, though your posture is always to defend and excuse.Comment

I wasn't putting myself out there as being unbiased; I've loved NBA2K over the years and loved the football games when they were around. Geez disregard I said something please - go back to the regularly scheduled negativityHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Thing is in this case he's not wrong.

I've been reading him for a while, about multiple games, and I find he's pretty focused on cutting through the hype and spin for all the sports games, no matter the publisher.

Re: Kotaku now calling out 2K. This problem is now 'big'
2k royally screwed up the implementation of VC and tying everything to it's servers. We all know that and this article is nothing new. Heck, the people who did read that sports article are already aware of the issues 2k is having most likely, so I'm not sure if the issue is "big" now that Owen wrote a paragraph about it.
That being said, if/when this game works (and that's a BIG if/when), it plays a pretty good game of basketball imo. If 2k could ever figure out how to get some servers that actually work correctly 99% of the time instead of 45%, then we'll have ourselves a great next-gen title. I believe that should be easier to fix than what EA has to do with its NBA Live title. That game needs another few years to even get close to what 2k has on the court and what they're throwing out with graphics.
Honestly, I don't think "calling out" 2k is going to do anything. They know they've screwed up and they'll probably see it in their early sales next year. The evidence is everywhere. IGN writing something or making a video probably won't help much."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: Kotaku now calling out 2K. This problem is now 'big'
Not that it means anything here, I'm sorry I didn't see MLB2K as being the abomination you saw it to be. I've said many times I'm at best a casual baseball fan and enjoyed the game, and thought/still think it could be argued they contributed to pushing baseball gaming forward with their pitching/fielding interface. Never did I say The Show wasn't vastly superior, but apparently because I wasn't trying to bury MLB2K it's seen as some affront to [some] hardcore baseball gamers. I only purchased two of those MLB2K games btw lol. I only defended the license given the situation btw - on that Monday when 2K lost the ability to make NCAA, NFL, Arena League, and there was the legitimate threat that they'd have lost the NBA license had the NBA agreed to EA's offer, they had to do something or risk being shut out of sports gaming entirely. Geez.
Either way, I didn't say Pastapadre was wrong I simply said what MY issue was with him, and that it doesn't surprise me he'd be commenting a lot on the current NBA2K next gen situation.Last edited by spankdatazz22; 12-30-2013, 06:32 PM.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
