i noticed my blocks as a PG/SG/SF with low block rating tend to land in the rim more than a big with actual block rating (still, the ball goes in the rim far too often on blocks)
I don't understand where this is coming from. It's definetly not true. I've had a bunch of blocks, both in my sg career and C career that work as intendend.

The one thing that does piss me off is when I block a guy, he gets it back and I get penalized for giving up an offensive board to him.

This is annoying...my defensive center averages about 4 blocks a game...
I would agree about the shot blocking pre patch but post patch....nope...loving that I'm a defensive presence in the middle....now the park mode on the other hand....blocking dunks is useless...

I can never block dunks in the park, I just always go for the strip instead. My player wraps him or gets the strip more times than not
This is what I mean, they were suppose to fix it in the patch but it happens way too often

It really doesn't feel much better after patch. Your guys are still less aware of the ball than the opposing team and even the shooter.
If your AI defenders would actually box out and try to get position, they would recover a lot more blocked balls.
On the other end, if you miss a shot, your guy is stuck in an animation and doesn't even attempt to recover the rebound or his blocked shot. Frustrating.
I start to block before they get inside the paint. After that its pointless. I made it a point to not have anu dunk packages where I need to pit the ball behind my head to dunk
In my opinion, blocks aren't useless and are in fact overly used. 2k did a good job implementing realistic physics for the blocks but the problem is that there are too many of them while the CPU almost never blocks shots. In one of my Bulls' MyGM games we finished with 24 blocks, beating the previous record of 23. The CPU on the other hand, had 2 measly blocks.
Blocking isn't useless. Not even close. Seems like at times the only time the CPU misses shots is when they are blocked.
