Re: Big free agents signing with teams they wouldn't

I've never understood those who want to mimic real life using the 30 team control association. I know you could make realistic trades this way but mimickin real life trades makes it somewhat unrealistic. Let's say T. Ross is having a career year and averaging like 25 ppg then Raptors decides to trade him for Melo and a couple of scrubs and draft picks IRL. However in your MyGM universe T. Ross is playing very poor. So making that trade would seem unrealistic in your association. I think instead of mimicking real life, a Dynamic Season like mode that Nba Live 10 had would save us from all the trouble.

30 team control is not the only problem. They also took out editing ratings and tendencies during mygm. Now if T. Ross was playing great in real life we could make him play great with editing. Then if he got traded for Melo we could trade him with 30 team control.

I purchased my game for realism. I would like to mimic real life instead of having Lebron on the Bobcats and Melo on the Jazz.

No need to be so condescending towards others.

He has a valid point. Many of the people on these forums like to play a true simulation style game with the ability to customize, control, and edit everything for all 30 teams during an Association. I enjoy it, many people enjoy it, but it's certainly not for everyone. It's a feature that was lost almost completely this year. 2k usually has terrible AI trade logic, FA logic, contract and rating issues, etc. and its upsetting that we can't fix issues like that this year to make the game play how we prefer it.

So it's upsetting that you can't control teams that you have no business controlling? Nice.

No, I won't get the idiotic idea of giving one user the power to cheat in a single player mode

The majority of us who used 30-team control in Association mode used it to make sure that teams wouldn't make stupid decisions, like signing 5 point guards, having Kyrie Irving back up Chris Paul, and make a more realistic league.

Let's be honest, LeBron James is not signing in Utah/Orlando/etc. He's either staying in Miami (which he never does on MyGM), or he's going to a big market team or Cleveland.

We use 30-team control to enhance our experience. You don't want to use it? That's cool, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be in the game.

What JazzMan said. Go simulate through 5-6 seasons of MyGM. Melo and LeBron will sign with random teams (Utah, Orlando, Dallas, etc.). Jure Holiday will be the backup to Kyrie Irving. Players in the 80s will be sitting in the FA pool, while other teams just load up on nobodies. Teams will trade first round picks for an average role player.

It's not cheating if we want to stop the idiosyncrasies from happening to give us a more realistic experience. It's how we want to play the game. I'm not bashing you or calling you out for running a lineup of 90+ rated players, or the top 6 rookies from the draft, or however you play. That's cool with me, we play differently. No harm, no foul. I respect how you like to play, and you should respect how others like to play.

It's not cheating though. Say I'm the Lakers, and in the off-season Lebron is a free agent. As the JazzMan stated, he is either going to stay in Miami or go to a big destination. With 30 team control, we as the users could make sure he stays in Miami by controlling the Heat with the purpose of resigning James...that is all.

It keeps the "GM" mode realistic and competitive, how does it benefit me at all (as the Lakers) to keep Lebron in Miami? It would be cheating if I abused the 30 team control to trade Lebron, Melo, Love, etc. to the Lakers for scrubs and picks or whatever the cap allows.

30 team control should be an option because people like to keep things REALISTIC, i.e. as they would occur or likely occur in real life. Maybe you just like the basketball video game, but I can honestly that the NBA is a huge component of my life. Basketball is life...Basketball Never Stops!

If I rebuild with the Lakers, I want to meet the Heat in the finals in two years...I want the Heat to have Lebron and try and "dethrone" the king.

I haven't had any issues with big name players signing somewhere unrealistic. Every season I've simmed through has seen LeBron either stay in Miami or end up in LA.

Everytime I sim Lebron and Kobe leave everytime. Unless I give them a team option before I start mygm.

I got fired today for turning the Lakers around in year 2 by over 20 games but thats a much bigger issue with this myGM mode! Anywho, in year 2 LeBron signed with the Magic, Melo with the Lakers, and in year 3 Hibbert signed with the Mavs, and Dwill went to the Spurs while TP is backing up Lillard in Portland. smh...woozy
