Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
That's the type of gameplay 2K is promoting theses days. Youtube gameplay.
Watch how they put less and less effort on plays asyears go by.
They're trying to transform what was a simulation basketball game into a generic sports game everyone can pick up and play.
PS: theses lights reflections are out of hand lol.Last edited by Vni; 04-23-2014, 06:16 AM.Comment

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
I've noticed (at least the people I've played against) that the 1-3-1 isn't AS effective as it was, still kinda lame tho.
I seen people using zones and doubling a lot, or switching from zone to zone to man while in the same possession.
I'm all for realism (obviously) but can we take zones out? At least from online ranked games? And I don't know how many years in a row it needs to be said but the passing needs to be better, I understand I should use icon passing but in certain situations it shouldn't be needed at all and I still throw the ball cross court to the wrong guy...
Which brings up my next point, why does it seem that when I throw a bad pass it's an instant turnover, but other people throw cross-court passes thru traffic and it's okay? I play ball and I know hands down that's one of the biggest no-no's: don't throw cross-court. And if someone stops their dribble in my face, and they don't get into a protective stance (Y, or triangle) let me strip them.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
its not the zone itself thats bad; its the rubberband defense that can react and move faster than the ball. if they get the player movements and ball speed right then the zone wont be anywhere close to as effective as it is now. realistic closeout speeds (and player movement in general) would make this game a hundred times better.Comment

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
im not even talking about online. my issues are a combination of the slow-developing plays and subsequent breaking of said plays along with the poor pick and roll system and the psychic cpu defense.
for example if i call for a screen i should be able to react to what the defense does. but before the screen is even set i need to decide whether the screener is going to slip roll or pop. that decision shouldnt be made until after the screen is set and i see how the defense decides to defend it.
in the same scenario if i decided to have him roll its very difficult to get an open passing lane. even if the defender hedges the screen he immediately snaps back into place to intercept a pass at lightning speed. or if they dont hedge and i am able to use the screen to get around my defender he turns into usain bolt and is back on me before i get two steps away.
the cpu defense reads button presses instead of player movements and because of that their reaction is way too fast. running plays and trying to play actual realistic bball will not be fun until they can fix that."I'm so lonely....I paid a hobo to spoon with me"Comment

Pick and rolls plays break apart a lot because of this. Cutter plays can also be a mess because, for the user, even if the D is playing hard on the perimeter, the guy cutting gets clogged and there's seldom a safe passing lane. Its like the same problem that comes up with the big man on a roll to the basket. Trying to force it just means a turnover.Comment

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
Watching the King of the Court finals really shows how serious the balance issues are in NBA 2K14 with regard to zone defenses and alley oops.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/i9DheIJ2FGI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Both players run a 1-3-1 defense with constant double teaming. The Thunder user spams alley oops like crazy, and has no difficulty repeatedly throwing them down through traffic, even with players like Steven Adams.
This is a pretty good picture of what it's like trying to play NBA 2K14 online.
This is the crap that they're promoting? 2K should be embarrassed that one of their staff members is commentating for this garbage.Comment

2K needs to get rid of the zone defense COMPLETELY! Just take it out!Comment

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
I mean you guys don't have to believe a word I say but I'm honest and I run plays and play as sim as possible with good D being my main thing.
My Team now is MCW, Monta Ellis, Iggy, Anthony Davis, and Drummond...I just play tough D and let Ellis score.
So I played a game, and Ellis and Iggy got such nice jumpers, went a combined 1 of 20 from beyond the arc. Now like I said, I play sim, EVERY SINGLE SHOT WAS WIDE OPEN and I was just missing. Kid was playing 1-3-1 zone and apparently James Harden can come back at me and hit contested step-back 3s at will....I think he hit 6 or 7 and only missed a couple times.
Oh, and one play I got blocked by Chase Buddinger on a fast break when I had Mclemore....right after the block he dunked on Anthony Davis with some random bronze point guard.
I can't even...lolI don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
I think the problem's just compounded because I'm good at the game lol, like really. Up until the 6th seed I didn't even lose a single game and now I'm in the 3rd and I think I lost maybe 4 or 5. But I mean this just takes the cake, I can't understand how such garbage gameplay gets rewarded.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

No way to play sim in Myteam mode. No way. You should just play the mode to have a laugh once in a while and expect the bull**** that comes with it. I don't even know how people put up with low settings, stacked teams and cheesers.Comment

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?
I've been surprisingly good at playing sim on next gen tho, until I play against the dudes who just cheese to the point it's actually pathetic. See on 360 I didn't really touch My Team much because almost everyone I played did that kinda crap. Either the people I play now aren't as good at exploiting, or they're actually trying to play straight up games which I can appreciate.
But on Park is where I have fun, because the only thing I have to lose is literally a loss on a record only I can see lol, but on My Team I wanna win and get to the next seed and get another pack and player, etc. I just deal with all the b.s. in Park, it's the only experience close to Crew I have.
But like you said, I do get a couple laughs in, sarcastic laughs, like "why is Chase Buddinger dunking on Robert Parish" kinda laughs...lolLast edited by HowDareI; 04-25-2014, 10:09 PM.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
