Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me

With the recent(and somewhat controversial) additions to MyCareer, I thought now would be the time to post this. I wasn't able to write down most of my thoughts and this is purely just what I remember and not fully thought out. So, with that said, here it is:

    MyCareer: Old meets New
Where can this mode truly go that is hasn't already? THE FUTURE!....No, seriously:

    Basics
For the 1st time, your "myplayer" will be drafted in the upcoming draft rather than the past draft. This combats having to try to work around players that have already been drafted and yes you can go number 1 overall.

There are 4 different player arcs(classes) to play the career you want. Consensus, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Undrafted.
(Now I originally thought to leave it this way, but an MMO type leveling system would be cool. I'm not entirely finished with this idea yet though)
Each has its own subset of player development along with pros and cons, and different goal sets. You are not tied to any goal set because you can advance through them as you progress your player(Think difficulty levels. The better you get the higher the expectations). For example:

By choosing consensus, you get a bevy of advantages and disadvantages leading me to...

    Pros and Cons
This is completely based on what the user wants to experience and makes the journey different for everyone. You will have to decide what you want carefully when choosing a path because these can drastically alter your career path.
If I choose consensus I will receive nice ratings right out the gate, high popularity, and endorsements. On the negative side I will have higher hype meter so if I don't reach certain goals my ratings may take a dip and my team may even look to trade me and I'll have to work myself back up. You earn less VC for accomplishments than lower tiers and goals are also the highest of all the tiers.

    Calendar

The calendar allows you to efficiently use your time as a pro by showing upcoming events and being able to schedule events like association users could in the past. Maybe do an interview to increase popularity and fan support?
In the off-season it'd be wise to use as many off days as possible to schedule personal training days. You can also host charity events or participate in Summer Pro-Am games(both of which raise popularity).

    Pre-Draft/Team Workouts/Interviews
These are completely optional just like everything else in the mode. You can play them, sim them, or not participate at all. This will either increase, not change, or decrease your draft stock, and popularity.

    Draft Combine
If your low on draft boards work your way up by impressing in drills ala Elfrid Payton. Do bad or don't show up at all and you may fall ala Noah Vonleh.

    Endorsements

Features new endorsements like clothing. The offers are based on popularity. So, the higher the popularity, the more VC you can earn in your contract, better incentives, and the bigger the companies offering endorsements.
(Note only a consensus player has enough popularity to sign a shoe deal right off the bat. It can be a surprising offer from a lesser brand like UA but you can wait and receive better offers once you become a bigger star)

    Speak with GM/Agent
This is where your requests and demands are met, if they aren't ask for a trade or fire your agent, it's up to you.

    Story
As in the above picture, everyone will start their careers in late May where they will receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine from the their agent. You then arrive at the NBA Draft combine where you will either make or break your draft stock.

(climb up draft boards or fall down draft boards, it's all up to you)

Once that is complete you will then view the Draft Lottery from home with your agent where he will ask what 3 teams are you most interested in playing for. From there it's all work until Draft night. Workout for teams interested in you and complete pre draft interviews with the team(remember if you don't want them to draft you, you can always tank like Jabari lol).

    Summer League
After being drafted, you will then head to Las Vegas to compete in the NBA Summer League(you can train during off days if you have the VC to pay for the drills).

    Media Day & Training Camp
Once Summer League is over you'll begin training camp. Day one is media day and you'll conduct interviews with local media and pose for pictures in interactive photo shoots. After completing the media day fun, it's time to begin fighting for your place on the depth chart. Earn more minutes by playing well in practice and in games.

    Free Agency
If you are a star in the league you may be surprised the lengths teams will go through to get you to play for them. Players will recruit you, coaches, and even fans on social media. Set the contract terms you want and the desires you have. Your agent will relay it to interested teams and have you meet with every team willing to agree to those terms. Big market teams like the Lakers may even go the extra mile to get you to sign.

    Off The Court
-Get the call to grace the cover of the NBA 2k franchise and get suited up to pull off your signature moves for some motion capture.
-Meet celebrities while doing endorsement work and you see them pop up at a big game of yours. Maybe even add them to your team if you have a charity game or pro-am game.
-Train with NBA Legends to get significant boosts in the skill you're training in, but beware, they charge a lot for their services.
-Run into another a star free agent in the off-season and talk about teaming up
-The "Crib" returns with varying houses/apartments to choose from. Also place every award won in your trophy room.
    -Etc.

(D-League and Euroleague would be down the road additions for if you fall out of the league)

Dude. I've been off OS for some time now and just came back on, missing this post. Thanks to the bump for allowing me to see this, because this is easily one of the best posts I've ever seen here. So thorough, I love the mock-ups!

This post needs to be stickied until these features are in the game, because it's that good. I LOVE the MyCareer suggestions you made. Having a mix of all of the best aspects of MyCareer from each game would be great. I'd personally love to go through a draft combine, summer league, and training camp again like 2k11, while integrating the story driven aspects introduced in 2k13.

But in all seriousness, thanks guys. Gotta say, I wasn't expecting the overwhelming positive response for most of this especially with the general negative tone of the board majority of the time. With that said, I hope that one day I may be working to implement some of these things into my favorite game, and if not, i'd just hope they'd get taken into consideration.

Gotta say, I wasn't expecting the overwhelming positive response for most of this especially with the general negative tone of the board majority of the time. With that said, I hope that one day I may be working to implement some of these things into my favorite game, and if not, i'd just hope they'd get taken into consideration.
Your post has receive over 155 likes and counting. It would be ludicrous if 2k doesn't take any of these ideas into consideration.

Did you make these pictures? I hope not cause I have a pair of pants that's looking to get wet and this is a really good reason to wet them.

The OP may be the most thumbed-up post in the history of this website.

And if it's not, I'd sure like to know what is!

...Seriously, if there's one that has more, anyone got a link? Doesn't have to be on the NBA 2K boards...
