Not sure I agree with removing 1-3-1 zone from the game in order to remove it's cheesiness. There has to be another way.

At the end of the day it was removed simply because NBA teams don't use it. Not because it was still too powerful. At least in my estimation.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

As OG mentioned earlier there are other, as yet unannounced improvements, that also reduced the overpowered 1-3-1's effectiveness.

Has the charge rule been addressed? There are a few non calls that were charges in 2K14 then a lot of charge calls which were blocks. That is a basic fundamental of a 2K game that has to be correct or people will continuously drive with LBJ n KD without the fear of a charge.Comment

I always thought the 1-3-1 was fine. Its just that man to man is weak.Comment

1-3-1 has allowed too many scrubs to come back on me in the 4th quarter...Down 10 etc...They use that crutch, combined with the rubbe rbanding AI and the comeback seems inevitable all too often.Comment

That's great the devs improved the charge mechanics. Hopefully they get the most annoying charge call right this year. The one when your player comes down with a def rebound and before you can even a dribble or pass the ball you get hit with a charge. If you play on 2k cam, the cam doesn't even flip.
This mostly happens after a missed free throw.
After your opponent misses the free throw he pushes the LS forward and taps the charge button. You have no time to avoid the defender. This should be a backing fouls but for some reason in 2k it consider a charging foul.
That has been called the incorrect way in 2k for a long time and it's a bit frustrating. Hopefully they get right this year.

Was thinking the same thing. Thing is, you'll need a whole 5 because the CPU will still be playing man or whatever else you call.
Last time I've been cool w/ 1-3-1 was in 2K11. Was something that was damn near needed with all the running side to side and lead passing.
I've never really had a problem w/ it besides on 2K14. All the other iterations it was easy to break especially on '11 where you could actually post up and do post moves.Comment

I hope they fix the voice command things. i thought it was cool to be able to speak to the mic and run play quickly in 2k14. It was not a fully function feature and not enough commands. I hope they make it better.
As a matter of fact, make it fully function for online mode. It will make running play calls so much easier and quicker.Last edited by reptilexcq; 08-27-2014, 04:16 PM.Comment

1-3-1 is for bums...i really wish 2k would address the off ball defense. I dislike the fact that 99% of online guys choose to play off ball because they cant stay in front of you. 2K should address the On-Ball defense so that it would encourage people to play on ball defense. Maybe even take away the option to play off ball would even be better.

Taking away off ball would be terrible. I am strictly onball as well, but it's not to be sim or whatever. I've just always been that way since I was a kid playing live. I mean, it's boring not to guard your man. But, sometimes you have to switch offball for a second or two for pick and roll defense and for certain situations like knowing someone is about to lead pass or pass to someone sometimes.
I agree w/ you though. Play strictly offball like staying on the C and then what I do, is feed the post when people do that, but they still switch off is weak to me. I came to play a user, not the CPU. If that was the case, I would play offline. They should make the CPU onball D more weak when you are playing another user or something.Last edited by KobeBean8; 08-28-2014, 11:06 AM.Comment

Odd you would use a Curry gif as he's primarily assigned to play off-ball defense in the Warriors' schemes, and their defense is top 5 in the league primarily because of their two off ball defenders in Bogut and Iggy.
What they need to do is try to eliminate lag cheese as much as possible and reduce off-ball defender warping. The former might be a partial reality with the elimination of zig zag cheese. But there is already a huge (and completely unrealistic) disadvantage given to AI defenders when contesting because of off-ball twitch gamer complaints.
Now it might be interesting for the defender to be a step behind or lower awareness for a moment when you switch off him if he is on ball to simulate him losing focus or having been caught ball watching or something to reduce cheese like switching away even from the big. But someone doing that is probably terrible already.
Maybe this calls for lobbies and a room where you're forced to play on-ball, so guys who only want to boil down basketball offense and defense to iso spamming and one on one defense can have the game play their way, but I'm not sure why they don't just play blacktop. I'd rather the game just try to address unrealistic advantages offensive players get due to lag and being able to iso spam (I hope shot fatigue is affected temporarily by iso spamming and turbo depletion).Last edited by Sundown; 08-27-2014, 08:36 PM.Comment

Take away the option to do what 4 out of 5 players are doing at any time on defense in real team basketball because of some misplaced pride and fixation about beating other guys one on one due to lag? Argh.
