Yet when 2K willl announce it 3 years from now, you all will love it.

      RELEASE TO PHYSICS!!!

Oh, wait. Wrong EA buzzword. Sorry about that.
      Who said they want that?

"Real time physics". Lol. 2k basketball is trying to stay in business and relevant. Basketball isn't soccer or football. Or hockey. Lol

You're right, physics encompasses everything in the universe except basketball.

That's right. No such thing as rigid body dynamics in basketball. That whole ball bouncing thing is insignificant for shots hitting a rim or the floor on a dribble or bounce pass. Aerodynamics for the ball in the air on shots and passes? Non-factor. What's more important is half-*** kinematic models baked into games that amount to nothing more than weightless corpse in the name of saying you're doing something "next gen". But who cares if it appropriate right? Who cares if the most important aspect in ANY sport game is the actual HUMAN response to physical contact and not just Newton?

              RELEASE TO PHYSICS, I say!!!

Oh, crap. There I go again. So sorry...

Hey, just because someone fails at something doesn't mean others can't succeed . I will however acknowledge that now is not the time tackle something so complex.

when will 2k have true steps and foot planting on both sides of the ball is the real question. I thought that's why they made/created ecomotion. This would really take the game to a level that matches the graphics and good game play.

While it would be awesome if they developed some sort of system that made collisions more realistic and random, the whole FIFA thing is greatly overstated. While probably logging over 150 hours on FIFA 14 and being my favorite sports game last year, I can tell you that while their system works great at times, its also buggy as hell. Another problem of their system is that they still haven't figured out what constitutes as a foul and what doesn't and hence, foul calls are greatly toned down to the point that you'll have games where you rarely see them. The CPU often goes whole games without getting called for a foul. You also end up with wonky things like these:

I realize these are from FIFA 13, but the system is still buggy in 14. And lets not forget all the hilarious Madden moments.

I was checking out the demo of FIFA 15 today. They do quite a fine job on that game. But they get away with SO much movement issues that tight quarter games like basketball can't. I don't have a problem with it as I realize EVERY game makes compromises. This game is no different.

Re: When will 2K have real time physics ?

The differences between NBA and FIFA contact make it a lot harder to make happen in NBA 2K. Easiest way to compare this is to take a look at headers in FIFA. When heading the ball the game allows only 2 players from opposing teams to participate in trying to head the ball (if they've changed it in FIFA 15 let me know). Everyone else has to stand around and won't be able to engage even if they would have a bigger chance of winning it.

A lot of contact situations in basketball are like these, two players in the air. It's hard to just bring in more people without having their models clip each other and with physics enabled the collisions might have some insane consequences, like they do now in FIFA. When playing the demo a buddy of mine had his striker tackled and that sent him on a 5 second flight right into the stands.

People are over analyzing it. Fifa has better physics and locomotion in basic areas that are common to both sports. The best example is the defensive stance and strafing in general, acceleration, start and stop animation, slow movement controls and any type of contact or collisions. Fifa 14 paced 2k14 in all of those areas. To just dismiss that based on the basketball being a more difficult sport to capture is second place attitude.

Uh, bull****. FIFA gets away with a TON of animation blend popping and foot sliding that the NBA games would get ROASTED for. They also have these sloppy physical interactions that don't line up that you can't see from the distance. Second place attitude my ***. You're sitting there IGNORING those artifacts in FIFA because they don't stand out as visibly as they would in basketball where the camera is MUCH closer to the action. In other words, FIFA cheats and you're ok with that. I get it, now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm ok with this cheating. Why? Because I don't see it when I play. If I did, it would break the illusion. The basketball games don't have that luxury. But! I'm sure you will disagree. Have at it. I'll say no more.

You're telling me the sports game of the year and the apparent gold standard actually has 2-man animations? I thought they were of the devil and no self-respecting sports game should ever have such a thing. =P
