not all of them have tiers. you can have 20 badges with three tiers each and have more 17 unique badges. just a random number, though.

didn't the crowd leave after the 3rd Q last game? Mid-way through the 4th there would be a lot of empty seats. Unless you actually see fans getting up and leaving? that would be pretty cool.

In 2K14, when I'd play at home with my Bucks against another 'bad' team, there would be many empty seats.

This all sounds so childish. The feeling I'm getting when I read this -> ->it feels like it has become less sim and less detailed.
How is it less sim and less detailed? To me it's the complete opposite. There are players that have skills that can not be displayed simply through rating and attributes. The badges allow their unique talents to show. At same time there are varying levels of talent for these skills throughout the league. Think of a badge like 3 point specialist. Steph Curry would probably be gold since he can light it up from 3. A player like ray allen, at the point in his career, would probably only be bronze, maybe silver. He can still light it up from time to time but he is not automatic like he once was.

Exactly. I don't understand people that choose to view a system that tries to mimic the intricacies of a players skills through something other than attributes as not being sim. I think it's completely sim. Now, I agree that the term "badge" makes it seem like a gamey, FPS asset. I agree. I don't think the term is appropriate. But getting past that, this is one of the best parts of the games skill/attribute subsystem IMO.

You don't need badges for 3 point rating. It's a well defined statistic and is much better served by a numerical rating. Now you can argue that the off-the-dribble ability Curry has can be applied as a badge, or Allen's off screen curl shooting, but then again, they can both be statistically measured numerically using SportsVU data which 2K has access to. That's infinitely better than 3 tiers.

Badges should ideally be for things that are difficult to quantify. Like effectiveness of pump fakes or emotional intangibles.

Am really impressed by these badges and am looking forward to hearing more about the defensive one...

As for attributes i hope quickness gets broken down to two eventually .......
                        1. Lateral quickness (would define perimeter defenders with quick foot speed) such as meta world peace that is not a good defender once u get him to move his feet laterally as compared to Khawi or Tony Allen defensively....And on offense would give credibilty to players like Tony Parker, Derick Rose etc that has great latéral quickness changing directions on the dribble to get pass slower laterally moving defenders
                        2. Forward quickness for just out right acceleration sprinting which is already there

The badges thing sounds cool...BUT I really fear that the 2k roster team is unable to keep their rosters up to date....They have been lazy for past years most of the time and had so many incorrect ratings (Lance Stephenson as a 59 anybody? Or wrong playerfaces/portraits for many 2nd round picks/undrafted players last year). Now with all these 77 badges, there is even more they need to keep updated, and I highly doubt it, though if they can prove me wrong it's highly appreciated.

They brought in beds (mike) this year to do rosters , no worries with rosters this season as I see it.
