How bad is the VC implementation in 2k14?

I just bought my ps4 and kind of glossed over 2k14 as at the time I didn't have a next(current!) gen console.

I know there is some sort of uproar with the VC, but how bad is it? I know that 2k15 is launching shortly but a buddy offered me 14 for $15. Is the game "broken" or riddled with microtransactions or was it exaggerated? Worth the price he is asking?

Nope. Just wait for October 7 and get 2K15. 2K14 went WAY overboard with VC, and 2K15 looks like it's pulling that back to far more reasonable levels.

You can wait eight days or so, right?

I've purchased every 2k since 2K1 on Dreamcast. The VC implementation in 2k14 NG had me ready to never to buy the game again unless they made changes.

It's that bad.

They locked basically all of the MyGM progression and options behind VC, which you can only get from playing games. So, if you were to take a bad team and sim through year 1, in year 2 you wouldn't be able to do things such as change your lineup (seriously) without VC.

Besides that, it's a bad game on the court, as well. Janky, spastic gameplay, terrible AI, limited defensive options, among other things.

Buy it.

Play it for a week then trade it in at Gamestop for about the same price next Tuesday and get 2K15 at a discount.

VC is annoying if you're investing TIME into the game, but for a week it won't bother you honestly.

I wouldn't buy 2K14 now when you have the new version coming in a week. It's worth the extra bucks, regardless of how if it's only marginally better than 14.
The VC isn't that bad, according to me, but I'd rather go for 15.

Just wait a week for the new one where you don't have to worry about the issues
